Use this for formatting SD cards: http://panasonic.jp/support/global/c...formatter.html

NEVER format SD cards with the standard Windows formatter.

You do not know if it was formatted the wrong way when you got it. Plus you do not know what is hidden on it.

I have several microSDHC cards, including two 8GB cards - I've used them unformatted (by me) OR formatted with Windows XP.

No probs so far - what kind of problems should I look out for??

Cards will be much slower when formatted with the Windows formatter, since it doesn't support optimal cluster sizes. Furthermore, on several players (D2, Zen, ...) badly formatted SD cards might lead to bugs, like database corruptions, resets, etc.

I did some stopwatch tests some time ago, Windows formatted SD cards were more than twice as slow with specific settings than Panasonic formatted ones.

Well I looked at the above link and saw a list of cards but didn't see a 16gb card. I recently bought a Polaroid 16gb micro sd. Brand shouldn't matter but was wondering if the link didn't include 16gb or better because at the time 16 was not available. I would think the formatter would work with any size currently available....no?
