I don't know about that one. The one I bought on Ebay does work for this mod & it costs much less than that Kingston CF card.http://cgi.ebay.com/TOPRAM-32GB-32G-COMPACT-FLASH-CF-fit-CANON-EOS-30D-400D_W0QQitemZ220394034499QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCC_D rives_Storage_Internal?hash=item220394034499&_trks id=p3911.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A4|65%3A12 |39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A2|294%3A200

I was just using that link as an example, because I won the kingston card on eBay for a cool $56 + $6 shipping/tax.

Yes the transfer speeds are slow. Small price to pay for a no moving parts hardrive You would pay more for a new hardrive like what had been in it. i think I paid around $60 for mine. You got a great deal.

Default Harddisk Problem Message with Flash Card Replacement

Hello,

My Zen M 60GB fell over some time back with the message, "Harddisk Problem" so, assuming it was a HDD failure I carried out the Flash Card replacement as described in the sticky. However I still get the same message despite investing a fairly substantial sum in a Kingston Elite Pro 133X 32GB CF card. I tried several other cards and checked the Kingston on my PC and it's fine. I am using a CF to ZIF adaptor I purchased from HongKong on eBay. I've checked all connectors for fit and alignment and everything looks fine. Any help would be much appreciated.

Merged with existing thread. Moved to the Mod sub-forum and made a sticky.

Make sure the zif is connected properly to the adapter & seated to the connector. You also may need to format the drive a few times while in the player & then load the firmware.

Default Harddisk Problem Message with Flash Card Replacement

Many thanks for your reply coachop94.

Unfortunately, selecting FORMAT ALL from the menu brings up the same HDD Problem message. I tried formatting the card to FAT32 and get the same message even if I select RELOAD FIRMWARE.

I notice the little orange strip connector has two tiny "ears" on it which seem be used by the ZIF connector to lock it in place but the connection doesn't seem very positive though. Tried holding it tightly while it booted up but still no go. Not looking good - is it best to leave the drive unformatted then? Once again any suggestions much appreciated.

are you sure you plugged the card adapter in correctly? Try flipping the are of connection (from zif to motherboard) around.

Your zif ribbon could be bad also the drive has to be formatted by the player. You may want to order another zif cable. Which one do you have?

Default Problem Solved! (Zen M 60GB HDD to 32GB CF Card)

Many thanks for your fast responses. This is a great forum.

The problem turned out to be the two tiny "ears" which were preventing the ribbon from travelling all the way into the ZIF socket. I notice in Java~the~Hut's pics that these ears appear to have been removed. Well I took the plunge and carefully trimmed them off and in went the cable. The card formatted ok; then I reloaded the firmware (I take it you still use the 60GB firmware seeing it was a 60GB unit?) and yep, a born-again 32GB Zen! Thanks again.
