Which CF adapter would I get on eBay if I do not have a ZIF Vision M? My original hard drive is a Toshiba MK3006GAL 30gb.

Keep in mind, some older ZVM's have the older Toshiba drive that use a PINs connection and require this cable instead.

Oops I forgot. I even have one of those. To be honest the Toshiba was a better hardrive too. Lasted much longer than the Hitachi did.

Yes I got my ZVM in 2006 and have the pin connector and Toshiba hard drive. Is it possible to connect a CF card to it with lets say this: http://cgi.ebay.ca/CF-to-1-8-HDD-IDE...3A1|240%3A1318

Instead of getting a ZIF connector?

Not sure really.... It will depend on if that adpater takes the 50 pin CF card to a 44 pin connection. I can't tell if it converts to a 44 pin or a 40 pin ATA drive.

Hate to be dense here but could you clarify?
If the ZVM wants a pin connector it must be 44 pins, is that correct?
Parts ordered can't wait to get this done.
Thanks

This is the card I used for my update on my iPod, back when I still cared...

Anyway, the specs imply that it would probably work for this situation as well. It's a little more money, but it's brand new and well it's Transcend which is really high quality.

Talking Successfully upgraded

Well I finally received the card adapter took 19 days to get here from Hong Kong. I missed the postman since I was getting dressed for work & had to find him in the area before he left(dodged a bullet there). I have completed my transformation. Sorry no pics the camera is not working. Formatted correctly ,firmware loaded ready to go . No duct tape card doesn't move around at all. So now I must load it up.

I have a ZVM 60G player. (DHP-HD0004)
Firmware v1.21.02_0.0.25
Suddenly one day it started to boot very slowly, taking more than 5 min. Any file took more than 25
seconds to start to play. It was playing well the videos as it used to be. It was already 50G full. I had a 8GB partition made
as a removable disk. I thiught removing this may help speed up, but it didn't work. Than I thought of upgrading the firmware. It didn't improve after that also.
Than I thought of formating it completely. I took the backup and formatted through the Media expleror.
It took around one second to format it. I was doubtful about it. But the contents were all cleared.
I put around 10GB of videos and 1GB of photos. Now when I tried to put the Audio files back only 10 files
were copied and rest all resulted in "unkwn error".
I thought of upgrading the same firmware once again, to my surprise it rebooted to "Firmware Problem"
I tried several times but the same resulted. Then I searched the net for what to do? Then I tried to go
throught the recovery menu one by one. When I did "Format All" it throwed "Harddisk Problem".
I searched through the net and found this forum where I learned many things. But is there any hope of
getting the HD working. If it does not than I have to go for an upgradation. I hope it works, Else I wanted to upgrade
my player to some semiconductor storage rather than mechanical HD which is susceptable to mechanical jerks.
I saw "Java~the~Hut" has done an upgrade to compact flash 32Gigs. I wanted to go for may be higher capacity. 64G CF too expensive $299. Now my doubt is
whether this model can work with any capacity of compact flash or how do I get to know. If anyone can suggest whether it will work. If it works, I will have a lighter and more capacity ZEN than ever.

Picking the same idea, I was thinking, whether a 64GB flash drive with a USB to ZIF converter work with my 60GB Zen

any ideas??????

If you find a 64 GB Compact Flash card, would you tell me where you found it?

I think if the CF works then better I go for a 64Gigs flash drive with "USB to ZIF converter". Total costs around $110.

I will try my luck

Hey there is a 128Gigs 1.8" ZIF SSD available for $307 which is cheaper than a 64G CF for $299.

mmmm I have to see whether it would fit in the case of my Vision:M
