So for a wile i was fixing ipods, but after the market dropped out I stopped. So now I have a few old style ipod hard drives. I'm looking for a mp3 player/enclosure for them.
Having worked on ipods I know how much they suck, so I'm not using one of those. I'm a Linux user so I'm looking for something that's usable without firmware installed on the pc. Thanks, -Gnome |

I've read that the iPod drives are locked to work only on iPods, not other players, but I may be wrong.

No, you can use them in any compatible player that uses the same HD connector (Zune, ZV:M, etc). The only thing is that some are branded for Apple (like the old HD in my Mini - now rockin' a cf card!!!).
