Help Turning off the startup/shutdown chimes?

Is there a way to turn off the startup/shutdown chimes?! I use my P2 to listen to books at night, and help me fall asleep. bad part is, just as I'm dozing off, the P2 will hit the end of the CD and then do it's shut down chime and wake me up. I would really like to able to turn it off.
