Default Noob needs help drag n drop (music folder missing)

Hi guys great site! If you can PS help me here i am a complete Noob when it comes to mp3's and PC's! I have just brought my 1st mp3 player, a e260 (UK-Radio 1 sessions with pre loaded songs) Looking at the firm its a 1.0215E. Now my problem is i want to put my music on it via the drag n drop but when i connect mp3 via usb and go into windows there is no music folder listed, only visible folders are: videos/temp/photos/record/vers sdk/version? Also in my computer under removeable devices there are 2 extra drives (F sansa/ G removable disc) Is this because my sansa came pre loaded with songs/videos/pics etc? Also can you ps advise on a very easy tag prog that works with sansa. In my music on PC the tags are all over the place (i usually use notepad for playlist). One more thing would you recommend i change firmware or any other settings? If yes can you ps break it down as if you was talking to a 10yr old (i am very thick) Many many thanks PS:Ive tried looking for awnser on boards but have not got time as i need mp3 for hols in few days.

i can answer you music folder problem.
the music folder is hidden; you have to enable your computer to view hidden folders.
Do theis by going to Control panel> Folder options> click on View tab> check Show hidden folders and files.
after doing this you will be able to see the music folder in your sansa.

Yes, you should update you firmware to the newest one: 1.02.24E
Do this by downloading the Sansa Updater found here: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1376
Make sure your Sansa is in MSC mode -too do this go to settings>usb modes> select MSC
Plug in your sansa into the usb port on your computer(where else?) and right click on the sansa update icon on the right of the taskbar where the icons beside the clock are and choose check for updates. The program will find an update and install it into your sansa. take your sansa out of the usb and it should update the firmware. then you select ur settings and your done. i hope this helped. if you have any more questions just ask.

Also ive noticed under artists some of the song titles are listed there instead, do i need to delete folder i just draged over and then re name or should i use a tag prog? Also what is this rockbox, is it on cd what came with player or do i need to download it elsewhere? Many thanks again, and any other tips would be priceless...

no you won't have to backup before a firmware update.

Do i need to back up before I update FW?

I would reccomend backing-up any music you don't have on your pc.

I've noticed under artists some of the song titles are listed there instead, do I need to delete folder I just draged over and then re name or should I use a tag prog?

Use a tag program

what is this rockbox, is it on cd what came with player or do I need to download it elsewhere?

You need to download it from Rockbox.org, check out this tutorial on how to install it.

To boot into the sansa firmware you can just press the |<< button while booting up. Or just uninstall the Rockbox stuff by using the install process except putting "U" into the command prompt instead of "I". Then go delete the .rockbox folder from your sansa.

I posed the same question a month or two ago. I was frustrated that, even after I changed the PROPERTIES of the MUSIC folder to un-hidden, the Sansa firmware would hide it again next time it booted.

My prefered solution is to simply re-name the MUSIC folder to something else, like MyMusic. Then make sure it is un-hidden. The Sansa firmware will NOT hide it again. But it WILL locate the files in MyMusic, and update the database accordingly.

The unhidden folder helps for navigating ROCKbox by filename, too.

The downside MIGHT be that anything added using MTP mode will go into the MUSIC folder instead of MyMusic - I don't know for sure, as I NEVER use MTP.
