Default D2 freezes when searchbar/skipping movie

Hi all,

I have my D2 4GB with 2.57 for some days now. I use sometimes a 8GB sdhc card. Everything works fine, only one thing fails. I convert different movies with Super, or Ilove or something into .avi (mpeg4,divx,xvid), 500/700 kbit video, original fps, 160kb sound, 4:3 320x240. Starting the movie is good, no problems. Also clicking >> to the next movie is no problem. Also clicking on the searchbar to skip to another spot in the movie is ok, only if its in the beginning(like first 30minutes). But when i click in tha bar somewhere like 1h30m in a 2h movie, my D2 freezes. Only thing i can do it hold the poweroff button and wait to shut down. Internal or sd memory is no difference. Somebody with the same symptoms?
Or maybe with a way to fix this?

Thx!

IIRC there is a stop problem with long video files, I think it was reading video after one hour, thirty-four minutes.

Try splitting your videos into series with a movie editor.

This bug happens if the header of the avi file is poorly written. Most likely the length displayed by the D2 will be a lot more than the actualy length of the file, at least it was when it happened with me - thats why skipping at the start will work; because there is seomthign to skip to. If it is this bug, then skipping far out means youre skipping to somewhere the d2 think exist but doesnt really, and so it hangs. try to rewrite the headers running the files through virtual dub mod and see if it helps

Do you have a tutorial or some kind of guide for virtual dub (mod). I am not the expert with this kind of programs, and also not with video editing
