Default USB Port seems to have fried Sleek - fixable?

Please can you help? I was actually donated the Zen Sleek 20gb mp3 player by my brother only tonight (he has had it for a couple of years and has since got a new player) - and it's broken already. I'm so annoyed and sad!

It was my first mp3 player and I was very excited and pleased. I listened to it at his house and again when I got home. It was working fine. He even charged it up a little for me.

I connected it to the USB port on my PC to see if I could get it recognised as a device and start to load music on to it. I have used the USB ports on my PC before with no problems.

As soon as I connected it there was a white flash behind the buttons on the front, it turned off immediately. A burning smell then came from the port at the bottom.

I disconnected it from the USB port and now it doesn't work at all. It won't power on.

I plugged in the power supply at a different socket and the only thing that happens is the little button at the top glows blue, like there is power to the device.

But the screen doesn't light up, and it doesn't power on. It seems totally broken. I tried a pin in the hole at the bottom, no joy either....

Please help if you can. Talk about bad luck!!!
