Default Is it OK to use magnet near P2 screen?

Hi.
Reason I ask is that the P2 is almost the exact same dimensions as my trusty V3 RAZR phone, and that came with a case I don't need (the V3 would survive a nuclear blast, and doesnt need a faux leather case)
It's perfect for porting the player around (requires a headphones hole, but that's easy enough). Only question is, the V3 case closure has a small magnetic clasp, which would sit next to the screen. Are TFTs affected in the same way CRTs were? i.e. would it create a discolouraion of the screen?
Also, the silicone skins available, do they cover the screen? I made the mistake of trying to wipe the screen protector that came with my P2.... Made it 10x worse. Shame it's not as tough as my old Zen V+. I'll forgive it due to it being 10x better though.
Thanks

Steeev

Thanks RCM!

Ordered the Protech full-player protector. Coupled with the V3 case should be able to withstand even my most absent-minded acts

I've been sceptical of cases with magnets.
Then again, if it's designed for a phone, a P2 should be fine.

As RCM stated, there is asbsolutely nothing to worry about the weak magnetic fields generated by a case clasp. I've put much stronger magnets (samarium cobalt, neodynium) in intimate contact with phones, PDAs, and mp3 players. Outside of making a coworker nervous, it did not cause a problem.

I'm almost certain that the amount of electromagnetic force that would cause a problem is more than what people would typically come across in thier daily lives.

The magnet that holds my stupid name tag on at work reset my phone more than once...
Magnets on cases, however, are safe...

What kind of phone is that so I can avoid it. I haven't seen that happen with the HTC, LG, Motorola, Samsung or Nokia units I exposed. Name tag magnets are usually made of cheap ceramic magnets!
