Greetings everyone:
I have owned my Z5 for a couple of months now and all was well. The other day however I tried to Sync a Playlist in WMP10 to my device in the usual manner (Sync Settings, click on the playlist's name, Start Sync) and the device did not pop it into my list of playlists. Puzzled by this I removed all my music and tried to re-sync it all. What has happened is that all the songs have gone onto the device fine, but not organised as the Playlists they are in WMP 10. The Playlist field on the device is in fact completely empty. If I select Music/Artist or Music/Album I see the songs, but of course they are mixed up. My question is how can I get the playlists to appear on the device as they are represented in WMP 10. I am very appreciative of any help/advice.

I have had the same problems with mine. I'm not sure what it is. I made a new thread a couple days ago about the same issue but i wasn't told anything new that worked.

Your problems are more with WMP than the Z5, so you could try the Microsoft Windows Media Player Forum.
Since it's hosted at microsoft.com, you'll need to browse it using Microsoft Internet Explorer. |

Thank you ZZYX I will take a look and report anything that may help the Philosopher too.
If the Philosopher could do likewise we will have two heads working on this rather than one.

On 12.01.04 a thread was started over at the Link ZZYX gave called "How do you transfer a playlist using WMP" (I searched the Site using the word 'Playlists')
Four other chaps report the same problem using different devices - no solution. On we go. |

It would be useful for everyone here if you bothered to reply to suggestions so that everyone learns what works and what doesn't work - especially when people go out of their way to try and help you. |

Boric - Can you give me a link to that advice please or even post it here? I will be happy to give you any feedback.
![]() "Every problem is an opportunity" folks - in this case an opportuntity to crack this problem with a community spirit. Googling this problem does little, but in future it may lead people to this forum and a solution. |

I completely agree. The link is http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ead.php?t=3014
My comment was more about WMP 11 which is what I now use but I have WMP 10 on my laptop. I've had a quick look at WMP 10 and see it is quite different from 11 (how quickly one forgets!). I'll plug my Z5 into the laptop and see if I can make another suggestion. I guess another suggestion is to try WMP11. |

Cheers Boric.
When I right click the icon in WMP10 nothing happens. Am I clicking the correct Icon I ask myself? My Sync screen is divided into two. On the left 'Items to sync' on the right 'YP-Z5 (F ' 'F' being the drive letter. To the left of the 'YP-Z5' bit is a wee box...an icon maybe? That is what I am right clicking on. Is that correct? |

Okay, I tried out WMP10 on my laptop and surprisingly the playlist was not synced but the files were. It has been a few months since I used WMP10 seriously (I never liked it much) but I would have sworn that playlists used to sync, but maybe they never did and I didn't realise.
I checked WMP11 on my desktop and that does work. You can create a playlist and drag it to the sync panel and the playlist is synced with the songs. However, if the songs are already on my Z5 then the playlist is NOT synced (i.e. I have Beck songs on my Z5 already and if I create a Beck playlist for a couple of those songs the playlist is not synced) - in this case it looks like I need to remove the songs and sync them again to get the playlist. |

Perhaps formatting your Z5 may help? there is no reason I can think of why that would help though. My only other advice is to download WMP11 and see if it works for you (it is in beta but I haven't hear of anyone with major issues with it - set a system restore point in XP just in case). |

I can't download WMP11 as Billy thinks my copy of XP is dodgy.
I suppose I must now wait untll I can download it from another source. I do encouage people to try Boric's suggestion. Until about a fortnight ago my playlists due to sync no bother, now only the songs do. C'est la vie. |

Hey Boric, sorry about not replying to your comment. I was having issues with my account at the time, and I didn't think anyone was reading my thread anyways.
I'm going to start looking into problems with WMP 10 instead of the actual player. I too cannot download WMP 11 because of other issues I have had with XP service pack 2. Is this happening with everyone's Z5, or is it specific Z5's? |
