Default sansa e250 keeps recognising different varations on artist names

I've got a sansa e250 and have enjoyed it for a long time with just very little music on it. However, as soon as i started putting more stuff on it, it keeps misreading the tags (probably). Because this machine cant read maps but only tags i always select by artist, but because i usually download songs from different sources the artist names are misspelled in the tags. I've spend quite some time making sure that the name of the artist is in every tag the same.
But for some reason it KEEPS misreading them, so as soon as i open the artist section there are like 4 variations on the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which pisses me off tremendously. I've changed tags via windows itself and also with Winamp, and i made ABSOLUTELY sure all the artist names were spelled EXACTLY the same, but still my mp3-player distinguishes 5 variations on Red Hot Chili Peppers. this is really weird and dont have a clue how to resolve this, plz help!

The Sansas reads tags and not files and folders. Have you checked your tags with like Winamp, MP3Tag, or your favorite tagging app?

Plus what firmware do you have on your Sansa?

I havent upgraded my firmware. I dunno what firmware is on there now but i bought it half a year ago, if that helps.
When i 1st put up these songs they were indeed messed up tags, and the names the Sansa is showing me are those names; for example Guns N' Roses was also spelled with n' and with 'n' and with just N in the middle.
First i tried to even out the names in the tags within windows (right mouse button>properties>details, then it shows all the songs info). I've put all the songs in seperate folders on the Sansa and the MicroSD and then took some time to tag them until the artists names were always 100% identical. after i noticed that nothing had changed as soon as i unplugged the Sansa normally, i tried winamp to even it out on both ID3 v1 and ID3 v2 formats. i made winamp auto tag them so they carried more info, i'm sure all the artists names are identical on every song.
but for some reason my Sansa reads the "old tags", i mean when i plug it back in the PC everything looks nice n tight with good accurate info but my Sansa is just a big mess, whahahaha.
i dunno i'm really noob at this, as u might've noticed

Could you remove the ID3v1 tags? I have seen issues with those tags.

Forgot to ask you another question. What USB mode are you using?

Can you provide the firmware version that is on your Sansa thru? You look in the Main Menu, then Settings, then Info.

i dont know about removing, in winamp i have the ability to let winamp generate the data for you, which is 90% perfectly accurate, thats what i did. u can choose between both formats of ID3, i think i selected the ID3v2 tags however i'm not sure. could it be that the Sansa only reads the v1 or only the v2 tags? because then i'll have a look at it again and make sure i select the right one, after i know which IS the right one. i noticed that the actual filenames DO contain these wrong artist-names, but it doesnt seem logical that the sansa reads the artist from the title...
my firmware version is 01.02.15E
USB-mode is MSC.

The Sansa only reads ID3v2.3, and the other tags have issue. You might want to give MP3Tag a try.

i've just completed checking all the tags in MP3Tag, apparently ALL my files contain at least ID3v2.3 as well as ID3v1. should ID3v1 be deleted or something?
by the way, only the files on the MicroSD have this problem... the files on the Sansa itself are perfectly organised

Delete the ID3v1 tags to make sure. I wonder if you upgrade the firmware if that will help.

Plus have you looked into Rockbox since you have v1?

I inserted only the MicroSD directly into the computer. In MP3Tag i made the program rename the files according to the info given in the tags.("Tag-Filename" - button). Basically when i saved the tags again i just unplugged the MicroSD and inserted it into the Sansa, which i had already turned on, it began refreshing the database (which he actually does everytime he boots up). I opened the artists section and no double names appeared. I dont know which of these 2 methods did the trick, but any1 who has the same problems should try it and it should work.
Anyway, thx "advcomp2019" !
