If you go back to v01.01.20, that should not have the bug. You will lose a few of the new/fixed features tho.

I wasn't aware that this was a software bug, but rather was a hardware issue. (I haven't had this issue with any of the firmwares.) Keep your eye on your player and if the issue continues with the other firmware, do a warranty exchange.

I'm running 29a... charged my Clip a week ago and didn't use it in the meantime. Battery gauge says it's still full.

Mine did drain the battery in a few days on the old 15a (?) firmware, however.

FWIW; I'm having my shutdown set to 5 minutes, and my screen-off at 15 seconds. Maybe there's some bug in the power management settings? Just a wild guess...

Mikerman, I did not have the battery drain issue with .20. I upgraded to .29 shortly after it came out. I charged up my player one day, and three days later it was almost dead. The Info said 7%. I am going to try .20 again to see if I have that issue again.

We are discussing in irc and testing, see what you miss out on

[12:49] *WalkGood* only other thing is a bug, i didn't format before, that seems to clear issue on old sansa, i'll try again after lunch

[12:54] *WalkGood* i'm formatting and reloading now, i'll fully charge and let you know ... for some stupid reason, i have a feeling it will make the diff

Edit, i didn't want to quote all the others chattin bout it, but i can say dfkt, advcomp2019, cpt & Enzo are all around

Hmmm. I haven't had this issue with the .29. If the issue persists, I would contact SanDisk for a warranty replacement--needless-to-say, it shouldn't happen (and you should be able to use the .29 update without it happening--you shouldn't be forced to not use an update).

Update 24 hours have passed and battery still looks full ... so formatting and reloading fw seems to have cleared my issue of battery drain, but I'll check again tomorrow and update.

I'm pretty sure I read a post on the Sandisk forum from a user that saw the same issue after upgrading, by downgrading to .20 (it was OK again) and then re-flashing the .29 upgrade, it was fixed. Hmmm.

Probably there is some battery (re)calibration data being lost in the shuffle of the upgrade? Anyway try .29 again and see.

Sansa could do well by including a function to recalibrate the battery (as seen in some laptop BIOSes) - you would fully charge it then the function would run it to fully discharged and adjust the percentage discharge curve accordingly as well as indicate relative battery health...

3rd day and no drain, could have been as simple as a downgrade and upgrade to fix the issue, but 2nd time I did format as well.

Hi I have same problem with my Clip. Battery drains in few days when not used. I bought it few weeks ago and immediately updated to .20F firmware through Sansa Updater so I can't tell which version it was before nor if the battery drained same way. I'm not sure if I can use .29A firmware. I don't need czech menu, but would like to keep support for czech language specific characters. Do you think it will work for me to rename .29A to .29F and then do it once again as you recommend this procedure here. Thanks

It should be fine.

Update: Checked .29 again. I think I do not have the battery drain issue.

Me neither. I'm just glad mine hasn't got the draining battery issue. I think it's really a hardware thing, and a warranty replacement the only option.

2 weeks now and no issues w/.29a, all I did was format, re-install and re-load tunes ... all is fine

Edit: guess it's possible that something was corrupt
