Organizing photos and video files in folders/subfolders.

With the most recent firmware, only video files in the VIDEO folder are recognized, video files in subfolders are ignored.
Photo viewing only supports albums in the PHOTO folder, photos in subfolder can't be displayed.

What about a "smart sound"/normalizing mode.. To even out loud music and soft music when you play them in shuffle mode? Nothing like playing an old, un-remastered song, and then all of the sudden be blasted with a new, loud song.. If you know what I mean.. I realize you can normalize before uploading to the player, but it would be nice to have that built in, too.

Songs on a microSD card do not show up under the "My Top Rated" view.
Also, maybe could we get like an "Additional Memory" option on the "Music" screen to let us browse only files on the mSD card?

And a better shuffling algorithm. I got the same track every other song a few times in a row.

Just a little gripe I have that I'm prettttty sure could be fixed.

Artist names that start with "The" should be alphabatized by the second word in their name! It's not so much that the idea itself is important, but more or less every music player sorts artists like this, so it would make it easier all around to keep to a standard. On more then one occasion I've been looking for songs on my Sansa and though I deleted the artist, having forgot it would be listed by "The" instead of the second word. Just a thought

If iRiver was able to do it 4 years ago on my little iFP 180 (128 mb) player with a tiny monochrome display, then I see no reason why SANDISK can't do it with their more robust firmware (nearly 5 years later!!).

And I don't mean a full blown Explorer tool, because iRiver's was not that at all. But it did allow you to see folders off the root of the drive, move into them, and delete files at will.

I think it's pretty safe to say, IT IS VERY POSSIBLE!

Sandisk isn't going to do that.. They already wrote a working firmware-- they're not going to completely dismantle it to make a handful of people happy.

can we change the boot up screen... I don't mind the sandisk logo but the things on top and bottom strains my eyes hardcore, it's worse than staring at the sky on a bright rainy day.

I have a 1GB player I bought two years ago. It did folders. I never used playlists or ID3. I bought another that came out about a year ago with 2GB and it didn't do folders so I returned it for that very reason. Now I bought the E280 and it doesn't do folders. It has forced me to clean up my files. So, when I sit around, I get into my music folders and fix em up.

I SURE WISH THAT THEY REINTRODUCED FOLDERS!

make the eq work better, it sounds distorted when moving sliders above 0, also the basses are really weak, i think it all can be fixed with a proper eq.

.flac and .wav support! (maybe also .ape and lossless .wma)

hebrew language support.

a "STOP" option or function!
I know many people say that a "stop" function is not necessary, but it's usefull!... maybe by pressing and holding the pause/play button could do the trick, or by doubleclicking on it, or a menu opcion... anything!... the player should just stop playing, not pausing or muting, just stop!...

have a better random system for the shuffle function, when i choose 'play all' for all my tunes and enable shuffle, it ends selecting alot of songs again and again.
maybe it can also remember some amount of last selections or something like that so it won't select the same tunes again.

- ALARM CLOCK - so you can fall a sleep without worring about miss your bus/train stop.
- delete song/video option.
- why do I have to listen to a song while editing its rating or adding it to the GO list.
