Default Gapless playback

Is there any plans to implement this? assuming once we get it, does that mean any mp3/flac files i play will not have any pause while switching between tracks?
Reason for asking is because zune got gapless support..what are cowon d2 staff working on? http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archives/2008/05/zune-goes-gapless-zune-25-update-cangelog.php

Noone knows what the COWON firmware programmers are up to. They dont inform their users about any plans. For now, the D2 has got no gapless playback and I dont think it will get it too soon. Rockbox is the only hope but a lot time will pass until rockbox is fully ported to the d2...

Gap on my 8gb D2 (Panasonic formatted) is roughly 1/4 to 1/3 second, depending on size of the track. From the SD card, its 2-3 times longer. Its not too noticeable IMO.

I think there are 2 kinds of people - those who are bothered by the gap (including me), and those who are not.

If you're in the first group, then it doesn't matter even if the gap is 1/10 of a second - it still shouldn't be there, and it's very annoying!

Actually, you have a really good point here. I still use iTunes to join cd tracks when they are meant to be listened to in succession. It CAN be a pain to find a particular spot at times but it saves me the anger when I hear the gap between tracks. & I know this isn't for everyone but it works for me.

I am definitely in the first group. This is one of the main reasons that held me back from a D2 purchase.

Well theres not much other players out there that can do what COwon D2 does and have gapless so you're outta luck.

Gapless playback would be nice, yes, but the lack of it didn't held me back to buy a D2. The rest is simply too good...

For me it's on the 'essential' list (along with fairly decent battery life, over 20GB storage, and the ability to drag/drop files onto the player via Windows Explorer). I'm kind of limited in what's available
