My Poor NEW Archos [Help]

So i wanted to gain the full PMP-Experience. So i gladly bough the Archos 605 Wi-Fi 80GB model for about £175.00. I bought it from ebay (yes i know, but it was a registered seller who has sold tons of ipods, archos for wholesale price).

So i recieved it on saturday. With a huge grin on my face, i opened this awesome looking box (has to remove the see through -plastic thingy). I opened the Archos and noticed something strange...The Archos's screen seemed to be protruding out of the case, and the battery (or harddrive not sure which part) was poking out of the back). The Archos boots up, but thats it. I can't access any features...The guy i bought it off went on a business trip to France...So i decided to call archos to see if they could replace it since i have a one year warranty.

The customer representative said that this happens when archos's get shipped with faulty batteries? It causes the screen to pop-up. So he said he'll report this problem and someone will get in contact with me on monday.

I really hope they will replace it free of charge...Anyone got any advise for me?

I think I've heard of this problem before but not sure where. I say contact them again if they don't call back. It's not like they can't fix it, just that if they will for free, which they should since they pretty much already said is a known issue and not your fault

Yep, lithium polymer batteries have been known to do this, at least they haven't EXPLODED yet which some have been known to do when they get into a thermal runaway condition.
