Wow.
Your photos are amazing.
I love the leather background, btw.

I wonder why you have that impedance adapter yet you're only using e2cs, though. I'm not quite sure what it does, but it seems like something an audiophile would use.

thanks for the reply. i do photography as a hobby. not that great at it though haha.

the impedance adaptor is used to minimalise the white noise. it was actually made for my EP630 which had broken a few weeks back.

more pictures have been added!

Not that great? That's debatable, but I am quite impressed.
What camera have you got?

i've got a fuji S5700, its very good for macro shots in my lightbox. I'm still learning about photography and using the manual settings. After learning all the options and settings, i'll probably move to a EOS400D. really like to work with DSLR's but i dont think i'm ready yet

i need to get a proper lighting in the light box, usually i luminate the box with white LED's in 3 directions.

Very nice pictures indeed. I've also been debating weather or not investing more into photography. Seems finding the ideal camera for a begginer, that wouldn't be overly expensive, that you could do as much as possible isn't easy. Especialy since everythings so damned expensive over here and importing is always tricky. Would rather be able to return a camera if it isn't quite what I would have wanted.

I've looked at the Samsung NV7 ops, Some Canons (powershot a### lines) but right now I'm finding the Kodak Z812 IS would be best for me. Not really ready to start investing in extra lenses and elements, that you have to get with the EOS line of cameras

i've been thinkinig about getting a Point and shoot, best option for a P&S are the panasonic ones, which have 28mm wide lens, Optical image stabilisers and are going cheap. the Lumix TZ2 looks pretty damn good and its only $260aud here.

Yeah a P&S camera would be nice, however I generaly never remember to take a camera with me... I pretty much only cary my mobile phone with me Which has an "okay" 2mp camera for a phone. Takes good enough pictures, for spur of the moment kinda snap shots, that are fun to skim through just for fun.

I have looked at the Canon Powershot SD850 IS (I do like to have a good optical zoom, 4x is about minimum), but in the long run I just want a camera that I can take with me when I know I wanna take stunning pictures. Like going on hikes, sight seeing, getting creative with home photography or just plain old making some MP3 pr0n ;p

I have had way more times when I've regreted not having a really proper camera at my disposal, as compared to regreting not having a small portable easy to operate camera with me at all times Because someone else usualy has one ;D

if you look at the Panasonic TZ3, it has 10x optical zoom (so does my S5700 right now). its very good out doors and very easy to hold a steady image. if you want to do home photography then you'd be looking at something which works well in low light environments. also something with good macro focal lengths is always handy.

Yeah the DMC-TZ3 looks like a really nice camera too, but the Kodak Z812 is pretty much the same price, with all the same and a few more features. Alittle bigger though...

Also you cant zoom while taking video with the TZ3, which already really annoys me on my curant camera

The reason why i mention panasonic P&S is because they mostly do 28mm wide lens, which is always useful for taking scenary shots. not many other lens' do 28mm unless you're going into the DSLR range. the Kodak Z812 has a viewfinder (digital though), which is always good for stabilsing your shots by holding it tight to your eye.

i find it funny that this thread has become a discussion about cameras rather than my P2 pics lol.

That's a testament to how good your pics are.
I'm still looking at them with green eyes. ;P

I'm quite happy that you guys got this discourse going. I actually have the predecessor to your camera, the Fuji S5600, and have been meaning to delve more into photography but haven't had the time.

I'd like to ask you guys if you used any books to guide you in the right direction, as far as the proper camera settings in order to get the best shot for the scene that you are shooting.

Overall, I'm just looking for something that could give me a better foundation before I go out there and get frustrated with the quality that I'm obtaining with my pics.

Thanks beforehand.

Heh, still searching for my camera... Seems I keep going alittle higher in price as time passes by. Right now I'm looking at Super zoom cameras, Panasonic FZ18, Olympus SP-550uz or Canon Powershot S5 IS...

Best place for tips is going out to find a forum or blog dedicated to the camera you own

here are a few links that helped me understand more about photography but most of the real knowledge came from testing different settings (aperature speeds, ISO, exposure, etc)

this link focuses on composition, depth of field and other important things about photography.
http://www.10e20.com/blog/2007/07/27...r-photographs/

there is a PDF called photography in a nutshell, it really explains how things work on the camera and what you should use in certain environments.

remember, photography is heaviliy affected by lighting, so you will always have to focus on what you should do in certain environments when taking photos.

Is the PDF that you mentioned from a book that was published in the 1900's? That's the only one I've been able to find.
