I just believe the P2 lacks 3rd party support.
might aswell buy the D2 then. since the SDK has a low probability of being released.

Well i think it will make the p2 sales go upp. Im still actually intressted in the itouch because of the jailbreak and stuff but still it does sound like shit. so if im getting anything then it would be the iphone to complete with my p2.
Still im not the only one that want to have user made apps, specially games. I think the sales of the p2 will go upp. That and doing some advertising for the product. at least here in sweden will make its sales go up. My friends are like wow when they see my p2 and are amazed of the bluetooth. Then when i tell them i bought it for the same price as the nano theyre about to shit themselves:P

I defenitely don't have the skills to use an SDK, but I know that the instant that one would be released, so many developers would have something out in a mater of days and the Samsung P2 would kick the iPod Touches big, shiny @$$!!!

SDK would be really cool! It doesnt matter do you know how to use it because there will be plenty of people who will know and make good programs and stuff ! I bet that it would be good for Samsung too! More people would buy it if they know that there is SDK availlable or if they just know that there is a lot of programs and other stuff made by sdk =P. I also think that those people who have voted "No" or "I dont know" dont even know what SDK is and what it could too =P!

i have been looking into this and maybe linux is the way to go. embedded linux system should work if since it P2 has :

Samsung p2 specs:

Storage Type: Flash
Main Chipset: 32Bit Dual Core (16k/16k Cash, up to 192MHz) (Telechips - TCC7801)
Ram: SDRAM 256MB (Max Freq: 133MHz @ CL3)
Memory Capacity:2GB, 4GB
Display Screen: 3"
Display Type: TFT LCD
Display Resolution: WQVGA(480*272)
Touch Screen: Yes
Battery Type: Lithium-Polymer
Embedded Mic.: Yes
Output power: (@16 Ohm Earphones) 20mW/Ch (5mW/Ch - FR)
Available Color: Black, White, Red
FM Radio + RDS Radio: 76Mhz to 108Mhz (US,Europe,Korea,Japan)
Special Functions: (Bluetooth) Bluetooth2.0 (2 headsets)
Datacasting: Yes
Time Battery Playback Time (Audio): 35hrs
Battery Playback Time (Video): 5hrs
Music Storage Capacity: (@128kbps MP3) 30(2GB), 60(4GB)
Video Storage Capacity: 3h 47m (2GB), 7h 34m(4GB)
Charging Time (PC): 4.5hr
Charging Time (Adapter): 3hrs

dfkt showed me this Link on my Samsung Chipset thread. The Cowon D2 has very similar chipsets.

Now i think there two options to get a SDK

Quote:
A software development kit (SDK or "devkit"), also known as a native developer kit (NDK) is typically a set of development tools that allows a software engineer to create applications for a certain software package, software framework, hardware platform, computer system, video game console, operating system, or similar platform. source Wikipedia
1. Try a Symbian OS based operating system. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symbian

Quote:
Symbian OS is an open operating system, designed for mobile devices, with associated libraries, user interface frameworks and reference implementations of common tools, produced by Symbian Ltd. It is a descendant of Psion's EPOC and runs exclusively on ARM processors. source Wikipedia
2. Try RockBox - http://www.rockbox.org/

Quote:
Rockbox is a free software replacement for the firmware held on various forms of digital audio players (DAPs). Rockbox offers an alternative to the host device's operating system firmware (in many cases without removing the original firmware) which provides a plug-in architecture for adding various enhancements and functionality to DAPs which are not present in the original OS. Enhancements include PDA functionality, applications, utilities, and games. Rockbox can also retrofit video playback functionality onto DAPs first released in mid-2000. Rockbox also includes a voice-driven user-interface suitable for operation by blind and visually impaired users.source Wikipedia

Samsung P2 Mainboard -

Cowon D2 Specs -

CPU - Telechips TCC7801 - see TelechipsInfo
LCD module - Samsung LTV250QV-F0B - contains the S6F2002 LCD controller IC (320x240)
Audio codec - Wolfson WM8985
RAM: Samsung K4M56323PG 32MB
NAND flash: Samsung K9LAG08U0M-PCB0 (2GB)
PMU: Philips PCF50606
FM: Sanyo LV24020LP
Charger: Maxim 1874E
DAB: Telechips TCC3110
Available 2/4/8/16GB sizes

Cowon D2 Mainboard -

Now chipset layout maybe different because of position, added chips like bluetooth, and Wolfson codec chip but the principle is the same. Both are the same cause of ARM architecture.

ARM architecture - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARM_architecture

It is also considered a System-on-a-chip or system on chip (SoC or SOC)

Here is the layout that system SoC has -

The design flow goes like this -

The Symbian OS System Model contains the following layers, from top to bottom:
  • UI Framework Layer
  • Application Services Layer
    • Java ME
  • OS Services Layer
    • generic OS services
    • communications services
    • multimedia and graphics services
    • connectivity services
  • Base Services Layer
  • Kernel Services & Hardware Interface Layer
Picture model -

For Symbian OS, it can be writtien C++ (native)
For RockBox, it can be written in Java Virtual Machine

The difference is rockbox is a firmware (binary image file) running on the side and symbian os is complete new set of instructions ( new operating system). I think....lol

i guess once any of those two options (symbian os or rockbox) are satisfied you can have internet running

Read - How to setup an internet connection on Symbian phones using Bluetooth - http://web.singnet.com.sg/~kinston/Bluetooth%20Internet.htm

I hope a genius compile coder see this and gives a hand...lmao

Correct me if im wrong
