Default Using The Box Itt Came In ...

The box that the P2 comes in has a pretty nice tray that the P2 snaps into. I cut this down to make a "cradle" (no relation to the infamous P2 cradle ) to hold my P2 on my bike. You can see a video of itt in my contest entry: http://anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28358

Thought I would point this out, because itt worked pretty well, and someone else may find it useful. The box laid here for about three months before itt dawned on me that itt might be useful. I'm surprised I hadn't thrown itt out!

Another poster stated that he is building a dock out of his box.

With a little imagination, this could be useful in several different ways.

Ah-Hah! Quick find- heres my original idea for a car cup-holder-p2-mount-thing... but the try seems slightly easier.

I also thought i would show some of my many other designs i have created

1-P2 Internet
2-p2 cup holder
3-P2 Camera
4-P2 With Notepad
5-P3!!!

I started by scoring the back, down the sides where the plastic curves out away from the P2 with a sharp knife. Lightly at first, and then kept making the line little deeper each time. I did this a little larger than I wanted the finished product. Once I had a a pretty good line, I started bending the plastic back and forth until itt broke along this line.
I did the same at the top and bottom, leaving quite a bit of extra plastic.
Once I had the cradle "roughed in" I used a pair of diagonal cutters (dikes) to nibble down to the basic shape. I didn't try to get itt perfect, just close. You can always take away more plastic latter if needed, but you can't put any back if you remove to much.
Using the diagonals I cut down into the areas for the buttons and the headphone jack. I then used the scoring and bending method across the bottom of these to finish removing the rest of the plastic. I also cut out the top left corner to make itt easier to get a hold on the P2 when removing from the cradle.
Once I had the shape the way I wanted, I used an orbital sander smooth down the cuts and make the sides straighter.
I drilled two rows of four holes each across the back and used thin zip ties to mount the cradle to my handlebars. The thickness of the ties behind the P2 actually make itt fit more solid and securely. If I was mounting this in a car or elsewhere I would have used an L bracket or something, but on my handlebars just the zip ties work fine.
A rotary saw would make cutting easier, but I don't have one. And a Dremel tool would help with the shaping, but mine is missing in action.

Yes, i think it looks something like the P3 would. It took hour to make, as first time using a 3d software, then photo-shopped.
