Default Do you use WMP to Sync?

Hello. Do you use Windows Media Player to add/sync to your P2 ? If so, is your P2 set to MTP or UMS ? Also, how did your setup your sync settings ?

When I first got my P2 is use WMP to sync 2 CDs. I knew better, just thought I would try itt.

I ended up with the two CDs on the P2 ... with at least five different album arts scattered amongst the songs.

And all the jpgs in my "my pictures" folder.

And three sample videos from "my videos".

I haven't opened WMP since.

So what do you use now ? Also, what is the simplest/fastest way to add Album Art ? Are album art embbeded in to MP3? or is it some sort of image file located somewhere ?

I use Media Monkey.
Itt will find prospective matches for album art, and if you don't like the first choice you can usually look through the other "hits" to find the best match.
Yes, album art is embedded in the tag.

I have tried MediaMonkey but ... it's but very useful for asian music. SMS actually works great for internet lookup for asian music and such but no album art lookup. So for Album Art, I use WMP which actually does a great job or tag lookup than SMS... well atleast better managed and it looksup album art. Problem is... it doesn't seem to embbed the album art to the tag? it does update my album to have a album art but when I use WMP to transfer album to my P2, album art doesn't show. So I use SMS to manually add album art to my album. Sheesh... i feel like doing extra steps here... there must be a better way. Maybe I should mod my P2 back to MTP to make it fully compatible with WMP?

I use WMP 11 and my P2 is in MTP mode. I do manual syncs instead of auto syncing. I don't have problems with WMP transferring media over the player with the correct album art. Both embedded album art and album art stored in the album folder work for me. WMP defaults to putting album art in the folder when you search for meta data but you can also embed album art manually. To do this right click on any group of music files in the library view and select "advanced tag editor". Go to the picture tab and click add. Browse for the picture of the album you want (you will have to find it online). Then from the drop down menu next the added picture select the type as "Cover (front)".

I've also used Media Monkey and it does a good job too. Media Monkey will search Amazon (maybe some other databases too) for media information and also album art. You can choose to have the album art embedded or have it in the folder.

No, I drag and drop files.
Then edit with mp3tag.

This way, if my library gets wiped on wmp, I don't have to re-edit EVERYTHING!

I had to do this several times and it got very frustrating.
Now with mp3tag, I can edit it at the source(id3 tag) and not have to worry about editing it with any other media programs.

EDIT: UMS all the way.

What do you mean by this?

I have lots of Japanese CD's, all properly labelled in Japanese and organised into albums via Media Monkey.

WMP11 with P2 MTP.
In WMP I have a favorites auto playlist which are all the songs with manual 4 and 5 star ratings. This playlist is automaticaly synced to my P2 when connected. That way everything I like to listen on my computer is on my P2.
I have problems with album art(it disapears) only after a firmware update.

I use MP11 most of the time. My P2 is in MTP mode. All my album art is embedded using mp3tag. No issues at all when transferring.

I find sms does not do album art and there is no way to see if what u rip has album art or not cos sms has no way for you to find out. WMP does album art at least u can see the album art. But the latest bluewave 4.05 US did mess up all the album at, even after I tried to re transfer all my songs, the album art is still messed up. Wrong art for wrong artist.

You'll have to delete not only the Music folder but the Albums folder also(its hidden so you have to enable "show hidden files and folders") and then resync your music.

well when I rip using WMP, the album art comes on, on its own without intervention, and some of my albums shows up in sammy but some all mixed up...how do u ensure the right album art shows up on sammy? Prior to 4.05 US firmware, everything was brilliant but now, not so.

Just embed your art and it will show up on the P2. I use http://www.mp3tag.de/en/
