a Zen user question, before getting the D2

i just want to know, is there anything like creative Zen "Add To Selected" in this player?? and anything like the Creative DJ, "Album of The Day", "Rarely Heard"...etc?

Nope, it has a dynamic playlist (favorites) but nothing like Album of the Day or Rarely Heard. However, it actually reads SDHC correctly =D

that's good, and yeah reading SDHC correctly is the main reason that i'm getting it instead of the Zen Vision M, so i can have 8GB SD memory or more which would be enough for my files

The D2 is probably going to be shipping in 16gb versions quite soon, by the way...

Apparently, 16gb D2's are already being sold in Germany.

Wish I had waited BUT this thing is soooo hot I'm glad I didn't. And yes, the 16gb should be available shortly and if you need the extra space its DEFINITELY worth the wait.
Also, the only thing that the D2 has is the DPL = Dynamic PlayList. You can add or remove songs but thats it. You can create playlists ala the ZEN with MediaMonkey, WMP11, J.River or any other prog when the D2 is in MTP mode. Otherwise, the DPL is your only option in MSC mode.

I also have a ZEN vs. D2 question.
I'm a big fan of Cowon (have an old X5), but I've seen ZEN too, and it looks rather neat.
I know all the pros and cons of each of them, but I can get 32gb with ZEN (16+16gb sd card) with the same money that buys me 8gb D2 (without sd card)...Is it THAT better?
No Linux support and no sd integration pretty much kills ZEN for me, but that is a lot of gigabytes...

The Zen does not integrate the sd card into the library - its browsed as a separate drive - D2 is fully incorporated. The sound of the Zen is nice (I had 1 so I know - 32gb model) but the king when it comes to SQ is the D2. The volume on the Zen is very low and it cant drive full size headphones without an amp, really best for IEM's - the D2 can and is LOUD. The only 2 things I liked better on the Zen were the screen (same res - 320X240, but was cleaner and more vivid looking) & the user interface. Not that the D2 is bud for UI, I just seem to like a full tactile interface better. Otherwise, the D2 is the premium player and the Zen is the budget player. Your really better off with the D2 if your used to Cowon products as the SQ will REALLY disappoint you on the Zen then. Or just get a Sony and simplify your life - they sound GREAT also!!!

I have the D2 and the Zen(4GB) also and I find the SQ of the Zen isn't good enough. And I actually prefer the UI of the D2 over the Zen, not that the Zen is bad, it isn't but the touch features of the D2 is VERY nice and works really well. I was very disappointed in the Zen and was impressed with the D2. Your point about the Zen screen is accurate though.

Tactile for some - Touch for others. The D2 is the superior player. I just guess I liked the overall design of the Zen. Too bad it wasn't as good a contender. Anyone who tries the D2 will never look at the Zen the same again - only the Sony players are on par with a Cowon!!! But still, the D2 is the "Best Of The Best" (IMO).

i wanna ask about another thing guys,
i've read some where that if i want flash themes i have to use Korean firmware 3.xx and not the English or whatever 2.xx firmware, but i'll lose the playlist function. so if i want flash themes i should give up on playlist, or what? i'll get the D2 after i finish exams, i want to know everything about it, so is that true?

No, the 3.XX fw is for flash SKINS. 2.XX fw still allows for use of flash games - though on either they're not really all that great IMO.

Playlists on the 2.XX firmware, not the 3.XX. 3.XX fw is MSC only and the 2.XX fw is MSC and MTP.
