Hello everybody!
I've been posting a while ago because of weird connection problems, which where fixed with a new mainboard, the USB implementation of the old one was seemingly crap. From then on everything went fine until I tried to turn on the Z5 after recharging with an external USB charger (which always worked fine). It just won't turn on. I already opened the device to unplug the battery and tried the reset button a couple of times with no result. Because of the unhelpful samsung support I am posting to this board to see if anyone has an idea about what to do to bring the Z5 back to live. cheers, felix |

Does it turn on when connected to charger/computer?

That certainly isn't good.
I'm guessing it's a hardware problem, and Samsung will have to take a look and most likely repair it. |

my player didn't switch on a day ago! I searched this board and found out that you can connect your Z5 to a PC in recovery mode. Press and hold select button (the dotted square) of the player and connect it directly to the USB port of your computer, not a hub! the computer will recognize your player as an smtp3600 device (Vista downloads the driver from the web, XP has the driver supplied already). After that I didn't do a thing, just left it as it is! After a while I disconnected the player from the PC and switched it on. The Samsung logo came up for about 5 mins, then the player went normally. Though my player went from the European UMS model to the US MTP (yes FM radio included), which I hate. At least it is working! Hope that will be of any helP.

Thanks for the tip, but it didn't help - the player is still dead. Seems like a out of the blue hardware failure.
