Help Booting Linux off Sansa View

I know how to switch to UMS/MSC mode, but how can I switch modes and boot to an OS (in this case Linux, Ubuntu Gibbon) off the View? I copied the install media to the root directory of the View, hoping to be able to install Ubuntu, but that didn't seem to work. Do I need to do something to make the View bootable? What about installing Ubuntu (bootable) on the View? Are there any special steps I need to take to make this work?

It's a little more complicated than copying files over. You need syslinux and a specific layout of the files. You'd be better off looking at a linux forum or wiki. I found some good info on puppy linux info regarding this. But be careful, I've heard about some mp3 player that would not start correctly after doing the procedure. You'd be better off doing this on USB stick.

Try this that will let you run Linux off a USB drive, and I'd imagine a view as well.
