Default Which SDHCs for D2 and where to buy?

I'm still looking at getting a D2 (providing I can find somewhere to buy them from in the UK at a reasonable price!).

I was wondering what SDHCs people use with their D2s, where they get 'em from and how much is a decent price to pay for cards that are 8 and 16GB.

Thanks!

I got both my 8 GB and 16 GB SDHC cards (A-data) from the same eBay seller. The 16 GB is currently $79.99 + $8.00 S&H + $0.40 insurance, with worldwide shipping. However, both cards took almost a month to arrive, and you won't be able to track the package: the guy ships through priority (heck!) mail. As a consolation prize you'll get a card reader.

People in the US can get them for around $60. Unfortunately, most US online retailers won't ship to South America, so I'm left to eBay.

Any SDHC card will work, just don't get the cheapest no-name brand but stick with better known ones like Sandisk, Transcend, Kingston, A-Data, etc. The only other factor to care about is the transfer speed, so try to get a Class 6 card, not a slower one.

As for the price, they're getting cheaper and cheaper on a daily basis... just look around on Amazon, Buy.com, Newegg, or some of the other usual suspects.

IIRC Newegg has the most reasonable price, after shipping, at $66 total for a 16gb card.

Thanks for the knowledge on the eBay seller - I have the same problem with retailers shipping to the UK. In-store UK prices appear to be v. expensive (I saw a Sandisk 16GB card for 250 last Saturday: I won't be buying one of those in a hurry!).

Will be sure to check out the US eBay listing.

Thanks for the heads-up on Newegg.

Unfortunately they're one of the many US retailers who don't ship to the UK..!

I found a Class 6 Transcend 8GB on amazon.co.uk for 19.29 delivered.

That's about the best price I found in the UK so far...

Newegg is a good place to shop for flash memory cards. Also check B&H Photo to see what they have to offer. Another place to check is Amazon.

Last night I dreamt about buying a bright yellow 32GB SDHC.

I was trying to pass it off as an 8GB card and the man at the desk (it was an office environment, for some reason) fell for it.

Later, I had to fight a powerful Chinese vampire that had already taken out 3 challengers.

I need to stop obsessing over my new D2, methinks...

32GB Still expensive
Just go for 16GB A-DATA (cheapest ones i know) and wait till 32GB hits reasonable prices (under $100)

It'll be a while before 32gb hits <$100, but I would jump at <$150... seriously, 16gb's are about $60 at best around here, so 32gb would be more than worth it at $120.

PS: Awesome dream xD

Let's not forget about the file limit of the D2 (3000 files internal and external?) - if Cowon doesn't boost that limit, a 32GB card might be useless with current firmwares (except for lossless audio or huge videos).

It is cheaper to get 2 16GB A-DATA than waiting for the 32gb one to drop in price. I would just get the 16GB one and waiting it out (it's about $75AUD here)

Has anyone even seen a 32gb sdhc card yet? Just curious as I had planned on gettin' 1 (staying with the 16gb is good enough for me though).

I have seen them in stores as well as all over online... as low as $270 for Sandisk and $230 for no-namey brands. Doesn't seem like there are as many vendors now, though...
