I dont have one and I dont want one. And yet it is a tribal thing, a way of wanting to belong to a select group or to make a statement about what you are about and who you are.

When I was a boy, the people that had them were generally men who were ex services or merchant marine. They tended to smoke roll ups and have teeth missing.

I never got into the ladies having tattoos thing or indeed piercings. I know lots of big movie stars have them and I know that I must not be judgemental.

I know it is a modern thing now to have body art and that peeps celebrate their freedom, but sadly my appreciation is heavily influenced by my childhood.

My good friend ran a laser tattoo removal clinic and made a very nice living out of it. His clients were mainly professional people who had risen up the ranks and become embarrassed by art work they had once thought so cool. Thye proly still enjoyed their art deep down, but it was the negative view of their superiors and colleagues that got them down about it.

Predjudice is hard to overcome I guess.

Life is not a rehersal and you should live life in a way that you feel both comfortable and valued

Although traditionally the haunt of lady folk, I've been toying with the idea of getting me a set of arse antlers.

I might go the whole hog and get a moose's face tattooed on my buttocks as well...

Either that or Rick Moranis' face tattooed over mine.

But seriously, I'm not averse to tatts but if I was to go for something it'd have to be a pretty special image. Haven't found it yet!

I dont have any, and cannot think of anything I would like permantly in that format. It looks like scribble to me. Some girl has some, unfinished, an idea sadly overtaken, but she seems happy.

I wont even buy a T shirt with a scribble on it, they used to give them away.. now they expect you to buy them, with the brand all over it.. no thanks. I was after a sweatshirt, in the shop, looking at them all over the walls.. i asked the guy.. have you got one without any scribbling on it? and he said no.

if a person decides to get a tattoo, it really pays to think hard about it.

a lot of people these days get writing or script on their arms. it looks good too, however you have to think and try to imagine what it will look like in the future. if you don't get the right font, it will indeed end up looking like scribble that only you can read. i personally have a name on my arm, but i made sure that it was in a font i liked and one that was thick enough. too many people get 'airy fairy' script put on them, a font that is way too fine, they are the scribble ones.

it must be hard for non-tattoo people to understand what goes thru a person's mind when they eventually get one. there are two types of people in the world, tattooed and non-tattooed, neither understand the other.

my first tattoo was a big mistake, actually the next three were also. i was only 16, told the tatooist i was 18, and in those days you just picked a picture off of the wall. this would of been around '77. these days i would imagine most people bring in their own designs.
i got a tattoo for the wrong reasons too. back then you hardly saw tattoos, so if you had one, you'd really stand out. the only people with tatts were guys from the navy, or people you had been in prison basically.

i got my first one as i thought it would make me look tough! very embarrassing to admit, but its the truth. lots of people think the same way. of course you realize they don't make you look hard or tough.

my first 4 were off the wall designs in which i gave absolutely no thought to. my later tattoos were many years later, and they were designs that really meant something to me. they weren't just tattoos for a tattoos sake.
i'd like to get my first ones covered by some new ones, however besides not having the money, i really cannot find the right designs that would cover them well.

Tattoos are only a pose.
Ideas should be in your head, not on your skin.
Tattooing your flesh is like scaring it.

I would never want a tattoo. IMO they are not pretty to look at.

I thought about a tattoo once, and my friend said, "make sure you pick one that will still look OK when you're fat and old", and I went and never got one.
