1. Battery life just SUCKED!
2. Zune software re-tagged all my music when I had even disabled this auto-download info and update tags in settings/no way to update tags and album info in BATCHES!!!
3. Delete from com - delete from Zune
4. Again - no support for DivX-XviD
5. NO EQ - I should be able to choose between eq or wifi draining my battery!!! And the hardware DOES support this feature.
6. Needs more steps in volume control - 0-30/40 instead of just to 20
7. Multiple playlists and ability to remove single tracks from a playlist
8. Gapless playback - The Wall and Music For The Masses (2 of my pleasures) need this!!!
I probably have more in the back of my mind but if the eq issue was taken care of I'd go an get a Zune80 right now (returned it - even though it DOES sound better than most players w/an eq)

- Create multiple playlists directly on Zune
- Can't delete specific tracks on playlist directly on Zune
- Multiple video codec support (divx, avi, mpg)
- Can't 'play all' from selecting a specific genre (can only 'shuffle all')I can
The issue with the genre shuffle play & playing while charging may be new features with the latest firmware. Didn't have the old firmware.

Cool I'm pretty much impressed?

So far after having the Zune one month I reallylike the device, better than my Zen Vision M and Sansa e250 but I wish you could do playlists on the device and delete music as well without using the pc. I have a small amp and some decent AKG headphones and the sound quality is GREAT,and I consider myself really picky in that area.

I thought not having an EQ would bother me but it doesn't,just one less thing to mess with, the sound with the boost from the amp makes listening to music really great, that's the main reason I bought the Zune in the first place, just my two cents worth!

So the Zune doesn't remember where you are up to when you power on? That is a showstopper for me!

The zune only won't remember if you turn the zune completely off. it will do fine in stand by mode.

It will remember for each podcast on their own though. So you can switch from podcast to music and podcast to podcast, and go right back where you were in the original podcast and the new podcast.

- the program itself... itune is just much smoother (major problem)
- auto playlists can't group the music the way i like (can't use two genre)
- can't display asian characters (I thought it released everywhere already...)
- songs in album are separated if there are different artists - making my list endlessly longggggg...
- the playlist doesn't show bit rate
- why always thumbnails! want some "lists" to save space.
- center button is being too loud when pressed (minor problem)

I hope these problems can be fixed pretty soon.

for me, social and podcasts are useless. well, radio as well.
oh, can't customize the menu either...

What is your computer specs ?
it runs fine on a Athlon 1.1Ghz with 512MB RAM and XP SP2. The same happens on a Pentium E2160, 1GB RAM and XP SP2.
Are you installing for the first time ?

Separate the genres using a semicolon (" ; "). Hint from: WillysJeepMan

Not true...compilation albums need the "Album Artist" tag to be set as "Various Artists"

You can add the bitrate column using Zune software Customizer.

Do you have Sounds on ?
Change it to off. go to Settings > Sounds

what problems ?

most of your points are personnal preferences and issues on your side.

You must have a really slow computer...the software runs great and is extremely smooth and well designed. I haven't had any problems...I personally love it...I wouldn't even compare it to iTunes. iTunes is just boring and annoying to use. What else would you want to customize in the menu other than the wallpaper? Also why would they include any other languages other than Spanish, English and French....the product is only in North America.

The lone official game for the beta XNA development kit is smooth as butter and graphically one of the best zune games.

Zune supports more languages thant those. There isnt' support for Japannese or Chinese character sets.

oops, i should rephase them

the smoothness: i meant itunes is easier to use (drag and drop for most of the part) maybe I am not sued to the zune one yet.

with the semicolon, it should clean my list.

with the bitrate column link, I think I could give it a try later

yes, Ricardo Dawkins, most of these are my personnal preferences.

maybe i should ask these in another thread first before here ;p

You can drag and drop from a Windows Explorer to the zune software..and you can drag and drop inside the software to sync.

Semicolon is for adding more than 1 genre or artists into your auto-playlists criteria.

Here's my list of what I 'hate' about Zune:

-No File-tree browsing
-No Drag and Drop
-No Ogg Vorbis / Flac support
-No browsing Genre by Artist(Only by Album)
-No EQ
-Pushing the center button to select stuff - I would like to be able to tap the touchpad instead.

Other than these things - which I am learning to get along without - I am VERY happy with the Zune.

Zune software ran well in a 1.1Ghz Athlon CPU with 512MB with a Radeon 9600 Pro. just dont load photoshop while running it. Latest version I ran there was 2.3.
Did you have an integraded graphics card made by intel ?
did you disable video enhancements ?

I already upgraded to 2.5 in my new Pentium E2160 1GB DDR2 rig...with the same gfx card.

-battery life
-any music you buy on the zune marketplace will not work by 2011, because it uses Microsoft's DRM, then again though you can always download from Amazon instead
-the lack of more good background choices without having to add more photos
-no eq

but I really actually love this, the no-eq I can live with, I can add more photos for backgrounds if I want, and I go to Amazon for my MP3 downloads.

The thing about the market place is not true because 2 out of 3 of them are DRM free mp3 files
