Default F40 - 50 pin ribbon to ZIF ribbon change possible?

I've been debating about upgrading my F40 to an 80GB or 100GB drive, but the problem is the adapter (50 pin ATA) which limits the upgrade possibilities. However, upon opening my unit, it looks like the board adapter might actually be a ZIF connector. I'm wondering if anyone has successfully changed the ribbon on their F40 to use ZIF? I have a ZIF HDD in my laptop and just need a ribbon to test my theory (waiting for it to arrive).

Thanks, Brian

Answered my own question - got my ZIF to 50 pin adapter in the mail today, so I ran some tests. And those tests have come back negative, so far - the ribbon on the PCB is probably not a standard ZIF connector, and the adapter did not work 100% (I got the drive to spin up and Windows to see the device. But, it wouldn't load is Disk Management and I could not get a drive letter). Oh well...

EDIT: It works! First, see this very helpful reference URL:

Simple issue, actually - the first adapter I'd received was a dud. I took a chance and purchased a second one and that one worked! Running this with a 60GB ZIF drive with Rockbox, and it's working fine, so far. You do have to use the adapter, so it was difficult getting it back together.

I used the same Dealextreme Adapter mentioned in the Rockbox wiki. Not sure what you mean by card slot?
