Default Sansa won't accept music

Hi, I just bought a Clip for my wife and the thing won't accept any files not even the Firmware update, which I downloaded from this site. I don't get it. Every time I try dragging a file into the base folder (MSC mode), it gives me an error saying "Cannot Copy: Can't find specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name."

I need help guys, I want my wife to have her gym music at the ready, hehe. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried formatting it from the player?

OK, so it let me drop in the binary for the firmware after formatting (good thinking btw, thanks), but now I still get the error message when I try to drop an mp3 into the AUDIBLE folder...any ideas.

BTW, this is the quickest responding forum ever! Thanks.

What happens if you drag and drop your music to the music folder?

BTW, it is not aways this fast. So please do not keep your hopes up an all the threads.

When I drag it I get the same message I mentioned in my original posting.

Ok, so I was trying to drag files to the AUDIBLE folder instead of the MUSIC....when I tried the MUSIC folder it started working and I got 3 mp3s out of the 15 I was trying to upload. Now the issue is that the player disconnects in the middle of the file transfers and even when its not transferring. It just disconnects about 5-10 seconds after I plug it in. I don;t get it. Could be a defective USB cord? Hope you guys have figured this one out already.

How can you tell it gets disconnected every 5 to 10 seconds?

I stop seeing the files in the core directory and I can't drop any other files.

How are you connecting it to the computer via a hub or straight to the computer from a front or back port?

Could you try a back USB port? At times I have seen front USB ports have low power.

If this doesn't work, if possible, try a different computer as well. This way you'll know if it's the clip or the pc.

OK, thanks. I tried another USB port and it worked for the most part. It quit on me when the player was nearly full.
