Default Alot of questions about Rockbox

Thanks for running this site everyone. I am a newbie I have a e280 ver 1. I am starting to get into Rock box. I have it loaded on to the player and it seems to work but I have questions. So here I go.

1. Is there a way to just play all music on the player that I am missing? It seems like I have to build a play list or can only listen to one album at a time.

2 Is there instructions on how to install these themes I see on these sites. I am not completely computer dumb, but everything I try does not seem to work.

3. What do I need to do to get my album art to show up? When I use the sandisk software my album art shows up fine but I am not able to get it to using rockbox.

4 What format do the pictures need to be in to view them in rock box. again I can see them in sandisk but not in Rock box. I would like to set a picture as a background but I cant get it to work.

I have searched the forum for these thing and have not come across easy explinations. thank you for taking the time to look at this.

1) There is All Track that you can use in the Database.
2) There is info about installing a theme on Rockbox site or you can search here on how.
3) Rockbox does not use embedded AA. You need you read up on how to use AA on the forums here or on Rockbox's site.
4) The photos need to be JPEG, or Rockpaint for the BMP files that the Sansa Firmware uses.

Ok I figured out the whole play all part of my questions. Now on to the themes I found a theme I would like to add on rockbox.org I download it. unzipped it then I tried to drag the unzipped file right on to the sansa. it come back and says something to the effect that this device can only accecpt play list, images and other files. I am I not doing this correctly? Am I trying to put it in the wrong spot?

Are you sure you're in MSC and not MTP mode for USB?

Ok I am dumb. I dont remember switching over to MTP but I had. Thanks for the heads up, themes work like a champ. Ok how about album art. I understand I need to change from bpm format to jpeg. If I convert them and then put them in with the album with the picture marked album art will that work?

Got another rockbox question.

I really like the 'delete on the fly' option on the newest .mi4, but I have the v1. Does rockbox support this feature?

Yes, there is an option to delete files while in Rockbox. You can read the Rockbox manual to get the info too.

To answer the original question #2 about themes - I've noticed that some of the Album Art themes either: 1) don't show any Album Art, or 2) work, but lock up the player on some songs. For problem #1, I believe that there was a recent change in the Rockbox builds that affected some AA themes (I have a Gigabeat F series running Rockbox, and it shows the same problems). I would keep playing with the various themes, until you find something that works for you - right now, I use the "iTunes" theme for Album Art, with the "Rockboxed" theme as the emergency non-Album Art backup (kugel build).
