nobody mentions whether programs like msn messenger work on it or not. What about Limewire or BitTorrent? I also see no mention of an alternative to the opera browser, preferably a free one. Is there really a webcam w/ built in mic for this unit? Just how close to a laptop or blackberry is it?
Thanks in advance, Grant |

There is no program available apart from opera for the archos 605. No jailbreak to use other software, no sdk to develop any.
Yes, the helmet camcorder really exists http://www.archos.com/store_us/produ..._id=0000000452 |

It's not a PDA with all the 3rd party software. The Opera browser was built specifically for it and supports flash. It runs closer to a laptop than blackberry.
There is an exploit that allows you to run QTopia which might open some possibilities |

i consider archos to be a bit "cheap" for this, they sell you a player, and then sell you extra capibility apart, this is poor and very unethical, the guys from the openpma project are working to remedy this,

WiFi you can use without a plug-in but you need to buy Oprah to browse the web
and openPMA won't do much regarding the plugins because it would be considered stealing, the formats like AAC and MPEG require licenses (most recently Meizu got in trouble for this). I think the most they can do is port a free web browser though so at least they wouldn't be stealing Oprah's |
