You don't suppose they'll drop the prices of the models too, do you?

I rather think the prices will remain the same and the 16gb version will be more expensive :P
But I can ask my contact if he knows something about it

Yeah! I've got a 8GB one at the moment and I've almost filled it up with just music!
I could do with a 16GB version as there's plenty of movies I'd like to transfer onto it.
The thing that bugs me most, is the fact that powerful firmware, takes up like 1 / 2 a Gig of space!
Shame it can't be condensed into a smaller file.
COME ON SAMMY! KEEP UP WITH THE iTOUCH AND APPLE'S OTHER NEW PLAYERS.
WiFi enable our beloved player too!!

They won't drop prices because they like the current up-pricing binge they've been on. Shame. They used to sell such great stuff for such low prices.

Memory prices keep coming down, so perhap they'll bring in the 16gb P2 at the current 8gb price and move the 8gb model down to the 4gb price, then discontinue the 4gb model . You noticed that Apple lowered the price of it's 1gb shuffle when they brought out the 2gb model, didn't you? Something to do with Moore's law, I think.

Lowering the price will be great and all, but I just want to see them on the shelves so I can buy one! But after seeing that Mpio V10 in ABI news, I might have to rethink about it...

are u using crappy ibuds?! lol, the difference between 64 to 128 to 192 to 320bitrate mp3s / aac are VERY VERY different.

As far as the difference between 64 and 128 kbps encodes? that's a matter of opinion. I personally don't listen to anything less than a 192 VBR LAME encode if I can help it. It is, to my ears, as good as CD quality. I've tried lowering the VBR bitrate to 128 average (V4 or V5) and I really can't always tolerate the results. Some people can, however, and that is their prerogative.

I always use lame @ vbr v1 new. Excellent audio quality. I'm too fussy for anything less than that.

16G released online in Korea for 379,000 won ($388) with Belkin case and useless bonus items.

But considering 8G runs about $230 with such bonuses, I think it is definitely costly.

Of course once we have the 16gb in hand we'll want a 32gb. Then when we get a 32gb model we'll want 64gb. I'm a forward thinker. I want a 256gb flash player like the P2, but also with wifi and a browser.

you could get one now, if you felt like paying $100's if not $1000's of dollars for a large capacity solid state drive.. samsung may be releasing a 256GB SSD in 2009.
