Default P2 & Linux

Hi,

so I switched my P2 to UMS to use it under Linux (Ubuntu).

Someone out there with experiences? What Software für Synchronization, Datacasts and Video Conversion?

Need some good tips! Thanks...

David

There was a thread for video conversion in the P2 Video subforum. In general, mencoder and front-ends for it should work as well. In both cases, mencoder or the tools mentioned in the mentioned thread, I have not tried it yet...
For syncs I used Amarok, maybe rythmbox works as well. But since you are on UMS, there is no real need to use another software...
Since I don't use datacasts, I cannot give advice on that question.

If anyone following my giude is having any problems send me a PM and I can email you my movic XML config file. You just drop it into .movic/ in your home folder and "Samsung>P2" will be one of the options in the conversion presets.

For songs I use rhythmBox. To transfer songs I open a window with the P2's music folder, then drag songs from the rhythmBox UI directly to the P2. For playlists, I use rhythymBox's playlist>save as option to save them as m3u playlists then use m1lk's tool (through WINE) to convert them to SPL's. (note: before you convert to spl, you'll have to open the playlist in a text editor and do a 'find and replace' to switch the forward slashes to back slashes)

Default So what about album art

Is there a way to tranfer album art to the P2 automatically?, Because if you just drag and drop no album art or lyrics will be transfered

Use easytag to embed the album art in the songs and then it will automatically transfer to any device that supports album art when you drag and drop.

Use Samsung Lyrics studio (In Wine) to embed the lyrics in the song, and then, again, it will work with drag and drop.

Oh, you used your P2 as a 'USB-Stick' with Linux on it to boot your PC? Too bad, I tried to boot the P2 with Linux.

Default Losing tag information under Linux

Hi,

when I drag an drop my mp3's to the P2, the tags are not shown by the P2 (it works when using Windows)
Album art embedded in the tag is working ...

But what is weird is that when I am looking at the properties of the mp3 on the P2 from Ubuntu the tags are good.

Any ideas ?

I am in firmware 4.05 KR UMS.

Which program are you using to embed the tags?
