Red face On the cusp of buying a D2... Questions

My HD5H is on the way out, and the time has come to replace it. I've been lustfully eyeing up the D2 for a while, but have a couple of questions:
  • the main one is given that I'll need to buy a 16GB SDHC card with this, so probably laying out about 250 for the whole package, what, objectively, justifies the hike in price over a Sansa View (probably 180 for 16GB+8GB microSD card)?
  • I read about this 3000 file limit on each of the main memory and SD card memory. Wtf?! Is this likely to change in a future firmware release?
er... that's about it really.

Over in America, at least, you would pay around $300 for a 16+8gb Sansa View and $279 for a 8+16gb D2 from Newegg. IMHO the D2 is a better player-- it does have a couple quirks, but the sound quality (X3i's), navigation (usability), price, and features won it over for me.
