Not too sure if this was mentioned: How bout gapless playback? To me this is the most important feature. P.S. I do not own a Sansa, but a iRiver H320.

Yep, I know, this is why I mentioned gapless. The iRIver H300 series does not natively play gapless, so this is why I think rockbox is a godsend.

This is a thread about why we like rockbox not about what level you are on in bubbles. So please get back on topic.

Default I love rockbox because of the options

I dig having control of so many aspects of the user interface.
I turned off the light on the wheel, on my Sansa e260 cause it makes it hard to use when viewing videos, or listening in the dark.

I flipped the display 180 degrees (upside down) so that now the screen is at the bottom and the controls on top, which really makes it a lot easier to use.
I changed the fonts and used the Cowon theme - I'm using the Kugel build which is really topnotch!!!

I use it to amp up the volume when using it in my car since, when it is in Sansa boot mode, the volume does not get as lound. The Cowon theme screen is much easier to read when I'm stuck in traffic and need to change albums etc.

So thank you Rockbox team and Kugel for your great build!!! I never leave home without it.

Default store what you want on SD disk

You can put other files on the SD disk such as photos, videos and more.

You can creat Bookmarks, a great feature if you are doing books or multiple files that you with to come back to the same spot in the future.

i really dig the small stuff that they thought of. click key is great and the beep on song advance. not to say that there are not problems with RB. bat life is kinda low. but ever since i switched the e260 to RB i almost never use OF. if they could get USB support i would not find any reason to use OF.

It emits a short (or in some cases I've noticed, really long until you move the scrollwheel..) beep like the iPods do. It goes through the headphone output though, since the sansa doesn't have an internal speaker

The keyclick feature is good, altough it's not very responsive (compared to the iPod).

But as usual, things always improve on Rockbox.

I love that you lose 5 hours of battery life, great feature! (Just kidding)

OK, serious now

I love being able to theme without the H3Mod crap
-SDHC is awesome
-Faster bootup is a lot faster (OF is, like, 15 seconds)
-Refresh database in background (OF takes me around 5 minutes)

Also, for me keyclick always beeps really loud, anyone else have this problem!?

A new patch came out for Rockbox a few months ago that makes the battery last a lot longer. Battery life is now almost as good as it was in the OFW.

For me, the best feature is the channel configuration. Long story short, I'm deaf in my right ear. Folks with similar issues can identify with this, but for years, I've had to use a clunky (nearly half the length of my sansa e-280r) stereo-to-mono jack in order to hear all the music that played on my device.

With Rockbox, I now have the ability to manipulate the channel configurations (mono, mono left, mono right, etc.) and hear all the music thru the left earphone, and I no longer need the jack.

Second, the customized themes and games make a dreary work commute much more enjoyable. Thanks to all for their hard work and efforts on a top notch "product"

Let`s not forget "CAR ADAPTER MODE"!!!!!!!!!
Genius.......sheer genius.

You guys rock

The ability to tweak the EQ makes the sound quality on the system in my truck unbelievably awsome and everything else mentioned in the previous posts especially being able to use a larger capacity micro sd and my personal favorite...........NO MORE "REFRESHING DATABASE" for what seemed like for---------------ever everytime I started up makes me wonder why I agonized over doing this install for so long.

One thing I do have to say though, not a big fan of navigating through the menus with the scroll wheel. I would prefer to just use the up-down buttons and the black "select" button to enter.

Other than that minor complaint this is an excellent program and many many many thanks to all involved!!!!!!
