Handbrake:
A great prog for converting DVDs for the Sansa Connect. It uses a better codec(MPEG-4 SP1) than SMCs(3GP) Here are the settings I use for a 2.35:1 DVD. HB1.jpg HB2.jpg HB3.jpg Auto Crop automatically crops the black borders from the top and bottom of the video. This is perfect for the Connect since it cannot stretch a video that has embedded borders. With these settings, HandBrake will automatically stretch the video so all of the 2.2" screen is used. In the Video Settings, I changed the fps from 24 to 29.97.
On the Connect, there were no problems during playback, and it really improved the video quality. The increase in file size was also insignificant. |

I've been having trouble getting an mp4 encoded by handbrake to work on my sansa connect with your settings. I am using handbrake 0.9.3 to do the encoding and I think I'm using the same settings that you mentioned above. I can play the mp4 file in VLC just fine, but when I try to play it on my sansa, it says its in the wrong format, despite it being an mp4. I checked out the SanDisk Forum Thread you mentioned in another post, but my version does not have an ipod-low res preset (at least that I can see). Is there a setting I'm missing? Any help you can give would be helpful.
Here are some screenshots of my current settings (sorry about the quality): ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
