Default Rockbox...

Hello,

I've got a e250 with a 2GB MicroSD card and I'd like to use an 4GB/8GB MicroSD card but because I don't have a "v2" I can't, however I've read that Rockbox can read the larger MiroSD cards and I was just wondering whether that's true or not? I also read that it would alleviate the slow start up - refreshing the database EVERY time the player is turned on?

Sorry if these are noob questions or are previously posted on this site, I just want to make sure I won't void any warranties or damage my Sansa...it's an awesome player except for a few little annoying things.

Also where can I find some easy to follow instructions on installing Rockbox and are there any little problems with it?

Thank you, any help is greatly appreciated...

Bec

Thank you!

Um another question, sorry, I read that currently USB charging is very slow with Rockbox, has that been fixed or is there a way around it?

Is there any Australian's here that know where I could buy a 8GB MicroSD card....I can't seem to find anything but Ebay.

Thanks Again.

If you read Rockbox's homepage, they have fixed charging, but for some reason it works randomly for me.

Check out http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Buy.aspx?f=16&id=1046 for a list of retailer in Australia.

Thanks, I've been through all the retailers and none seem to stock 8GB MicroSD cards. Oh well.

Try looking at electronic shops, or the electronics section of stores like Target and K-Mart and Big W.

I've tried all of those and Dick Smiths Mobile Phone shops ect, the max we seem to have is 2GB, even Ebay isn't producing much, the Australian version I mean. Thanks anyway.

Does anyone know if there's a WPS theme that looks very similar to the normal firmware? Call me nuts if you will, but I prefer the look of the original firmware however I don't like some of the annoyances with it.

For the WPS try this: Internet?
Also, maybe you should just settle for a 2GB card?

I have 7.5GB of music and I travel a lot in a car along boring highways so the plan was to get an 8GB Micro SD card and have all of my music on it and with Rockbox not have have to do the refresh thing all the time. (Also I wanted to have more space than my cousin, petty I know but it's a war against Sansa and Ipod Nano and I want to win!)

Thank you heaps for the link!

4 and 6GB microsd cards are just hitting the market, and they're quite hard to find still. 8GB will probably have to wait a while longer.

Thanks, I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer.

Yeah they do, however that's for the USA and Canada...I live in Australia...oh well, it usually takes a few months before anything comes out here anyway.
