Hello all
I did a search and didn't find this specific issue, I appologize in advance if this has been covered... So I just purchased the p2, and after charging it I upgraded the firmware. I just loaded the player up via napster-to-go and when playing a song the album art looks awful. I understand the firmware upgrade increased the size of the album art, is this an unfortunate side-effect? Thanks in advance. |

Yes and no
Can you sync your songs via WMP? If yes, it'll download pretty nice labum art automatically Hope this helps!

I had been using the napster interface to transfer music. I tried wmp11 and the album art is still low quality in my opinion, especially compared to other devices.

well the album art on the P2 might be expanded a bit to well, make it bigger, on the t10, its its regular size... try to embed the album art using mediamonkey

I'm having the same problem, actually. I sync'd my playlists using J. River Media Center 12. I'm not going to use WMP11 because it doesn't have all the functionality that I need... The album art I have in my tags are high quality, at least 300x300 or larger. However, all of them display on the P2 as pixelated or badly interpolated. Anyone know the reason why?

i believe the P2 supports 200 X 200 for the best picture quality, if they are bigger or smaller it'll have to resize them and could ruin the look, but this is just what i think the problem is...

That's too bad. Hopefully a firmware update will fix this

It supports 200x200 as the native size. Smaller will look crappy because it is blowing it up. I don't know if it will even display bigger sizes. To prove that the album art only looks bad for some people because it's just crappy to begin with, I took the cover of a fairly detailed album of mine (Kid A) and saved it with high quality settings in Photoshop as a 200x200. I also saved a really low (high compression) copy at the same size. I embedded the good one in the files using mp3tag and put it on the P2. It looks great, crisp and bright. I did the same thing to the crappy image. It looks crappy on my P2. Voila.... Good source file is essential...

MediaMonkey is hit and miss sometimes about how it adds Album art. Try using mp3tag to verify that the album art is actually embedded in the file.

i wonder how i can just remove it from the files...would save space, and i'll never use the album art visulization because it just looks awful |

Just use mp3tag.. Best program ever...
Open the directory and click on the files. You can strip embedded album art right out of the file. |

The very first song I played, after getting the P2 tonight and syncing, had fuzzy art. The next one looked great. If there is a problem, it's not in the P2 it's in the image we have saved. Now I don't feel like going through every one of my albums and seeing what is good and what is bad. I'm going to use my player, which happens to be JRiver Media Center, and just get new cover art for everything. This will take a while so I'll do it before I go to bed one night. Media Monkey can do it, I imagine even WMP can.

the P2 does display art that is larger than 200x200. All of mine are 300x300 or larger, and they all display. They only problem is that they look terrible, as if scaled with a really bad interpolation algorithm. I think that might be the issue... however, all of my art looks as if the art was zoomed in to from a much smaller picture. I know that isn't the case, so whatever the scaling algorithm is that they are using, it is a bad one.

Well, it's not Apple. Ghey album art is probably not on the top of their list to make look sweet. I'd rather have a functional player than pretty album art

Hello, someone knows what the resolution screen of the album art in the new firmware (2.08) ? The older firmware displayed 200x200.
