Default Cannot get to MSC mode

The Rockbox website says to go into the settings on my sansa and change it from USB to MSC mode or the sansa patcher will not work.

Well, it's not working, because there is no option I can find to change modes.

Nevermind, I just got it.

It seems the firmware was out of date. I got it as a present (opened it on the 24th actually) and I assumed it would be up to date since it was brand new, but I didn't think about shelf time and all that.

It is v2 though, but I guess with the new firmware that doesn't matter?

You can't install Rockbox on V2's at this time.

Really? Well, I guess you're right, because the sansa patcher still can't find my sansa, even after I put it in msc mode. It just doesn't say anything about V2's on the installation page.

V2 player aren't supported. However, they are working on it. They have to break some encryption first.

Nobody's working on it right now. We're gathering information, because we always gather information, but nobody who owns the specific players in question has stepped forward and started doing anything really.

I think we may even know how to sign firmware for it already, actually. But people with the player eventually need to do the work.

And I'm one of those people. Unfortunately I don't know how to do whatever it is to make Rockbox work on V2's

It's probably not easy, but if I knew how I would.

The best way to make progress is to get in contact with one of the rockbox devs that wants to work on this. Usually a lot of progress can be made if you just test out a few things and report the results to the devs.
