Oh, and how updated is it compared to the other ones? He last updated it in August, has new stuff come out that could improve it?

BTW, if I want a theme on it, other than the default one, do I just replace the .rockbox folder created in the original installation by the new .rockbox folder from the new theme?

He has an auto-update script, and whenever a SVN change breaks a patch, his system is pretty much messed up. He had to rebuild his build manually several times recently.

Yes, Kugel is right. Christjs's build is the most up to date with SVN. However, since it is auto-build, one out of sync patch can break the whole thing. Also, it is not tested before release.

The philosophy of my builds is different. My build are not the most up to date with SVN (however most of the time it is close). "Keeping up with the Joneses" is not my primary concern, my primary concern is usability as a PMP (Personal media player) and stability. This is why most of my patches have to do with improving sound quality and usability. I am also, not much into excessive eye candy although I do include a few WPS patches to keep the users happy. I am also not into games, however I do take requests. My builds are always tested for several hours before releasing.

As an example of eye candy. I find the current obsession with "picture flow" quite comically. It might look nice as eye candy, but I certainly can see it become a usability nightmare if you have more than a hand full of albums.

When it works it is the best build out there. My sister has a build of Chris's on her player and it has been there for months with no problems at all. I have never had a problem with Chris's build either, I have tried the other builds only to find them to be cluttered with junk on the menus. Chris's build is the build I will use until it's not made anymore.

Each to his/her own. Like I have said before, each build have a different philosophy and will attact different users. Choice is good.

I agree completely, I'm just defending his build while he isn't around to defend it himself.

Kugel and I are not attacking his build. We are just pointing out the obvious fact that things might break if just one patch get out of sync with an auto-build system.

Neither. To install themes, just open the zip with your favorite archiver and select "extract to". Send it to your player's root (usually E:\).

My digibuild comes with a lot of themes and fonts pre-installed so you don't need to worry about it. It doesn't have as many patches as most of the others though, so if you need some of those patches you might stick with one of theirs. Try out different ones and pick one you like.

Also: If you install mine and then install another over it, you still keep all the themes that come with mine .
