Extensively used and really loved your application for creating playlists on my old Sansa e280!

And now just tried using your program with my new Fuze to see what would happen.

I was able to make a playlist and store it on the Fuze (I had to make a new folder in the root called PLAYLISTS) and then it looks like the Fuze doesn't understand .pla formated playlists.

Have you thought about mod'ing your (great) program to store the created playlist in the Fuze's MUSIC folder and then change the playlist format to be .m3u ? - so it could be read by the Fuze.

Sure would be excellent to be able to use your program with the new series!!!

Gmo -- Zivan did a great job on his playlist app. Unfortunately, it's a dead end for newer Sansa players which require playlists to be created and manipulated via the MTP protocol, not via MSC which is how Zivan's app works.

The only reliable way I have found for creating playlists on newer Sansa units is, I hate to say, Windows Media Player, which has about the most confusing interface I've ever seen for a major piece of software from a large company. There seems to be a dozen sort-of-equivalent paths to get any particular task done However, once you get used to it, WMP does do the job. Here's one route through the Create Playlist maze:

* Set Sansa to MTP mode
* Connect Sansa to computer
* Launch WMP

* Add music files to WMP Library (if you haven't already done so)
- Select File\Add to Library...
- Click Add button and browse to directories of your music files.

* Create Playlist
- Click Library tab
- Right-Click Library tab
- Select "Create Playlist"
- Name playlist in right pane
- Add albums and tracks to list in right pane
- Click "Save Playlist"

* Set sync device to your Sansa player
- Click Sync tab
- Click Next Device in left pane until set to you Sansa player

* Sync new playlist and music to your Sansa
- Click Sync tab
- Drag'n'drop new playlist from Playlist entries in left pane to Sync List in right pane
- Click "Start Sync" button at bottom of right pane.
- Allow to run to completion

Disconnect your Sansa player. You should be able to see you new playlist when you navigate to Music\Playlists.

BTW - be sure to download the latest version of Windows Media Player. It's not just for the player itself, but to make sure you have latest version of MTP on your computer.

But is there a mac solution? Because this is quite simply a magnificent pain in the arse. I can't make a stinking playlist cause I use a mac that doesn't run Windows. Argh.

So this can't be used to transfer old wpl files to pla files onto your e200 right? What does do that. WMP doesn't seem to want to do that for me anymore. It says it synch but nothing in the playlist directory.

Thank you for your potentially very useful tool. My only problem is that when I try to import my .m3u file, it says "File: ... Does not exist!" for every file in it. Here's what I do: I set my Sansa e380v1 to MSC mode and attach it as drive K:. I drag my \sounds folder from my C: to K: so all my MP3 files are there. I start e200 Playlist Editor/Creator, set Player Drive: to K:, and then invoke File/Import and open the M3U file. For every MP3, it reports "File does not exist". This is not true--I have confirmed that they really do exist.

Here are a few lines out of my m3u:

\sounds\Bette Midler\Experience The Divine\10-The Rose.mp3
\sounds\The Youngbloods\Youngbloods - Get together.mp3
\sounds\Eagles\The Very Best of the Eagles\2.14-Love Will Keep Us Alive.mp3

What am I doing wrong?

Yes, I noticed the date. I'm hoping zivan56 is notified of my post, or that someone else can point out what I'm doing wrong. My wife lost her Sansa and we replaced it with an e280v1. We have thousands of songs organized into about a hundred playlists in m3u format, and really don't want to take the time to drag-and-drop them one-by-one.

Maybe try not copying the files over and import the m3u file from your hard drive? I believe the program should copy each song automatically. Although I haven't look at it for over a couple of years...so it might not work that way.
Sorry, but I don't even have this player anymore. When I did have it, I stopped using the Sansa OS and switched to Rockbox.

I was able to download the latest version. i dragged and dropped and made a new playlist and created a "PLAYLIST" folder. When i unplug it, the playlist shows up(filled it with a handful of songs just to try it), but it just says (empty) when i click into that particular playlist....any help or insights/suggestions? thanks for any tips.

I think it might have something to do with my use of paths.
Each file in the M3U has a different path, as per my example.

If I do both (a) copy the files over first, and (b) I give the full path including the Sansa's drive letter at the beginning of each line of the M3U, like this

L:\sounds\Christmas\Michael Bolton\This Is the Time\10 - Love Is The Power.mp3
L:\sounds\Merril Bainbridge\The Garden\05 - Julie.mp3
L:\sounds\Compilations\I Dreamed A Dream\2.16 - Earl Klugh - Julie.mp3

then I don't get the "File: ... Does not exist!" errors any more.
However, the playlist in your program is still blank
