P2 Full UMS/MSC! (Thanks to GMP3)

I have the same feedback as 4DThinker. But I also try to copy the config.dat in SYSTEM file. It stay there after update but the system.ver revert to
VER 2.08 US MTP
MODEL P2
DRM JA
as it was before. I'm not sure about the 3rd line, should I change it as cornedrue77?
I didn't want trying to downgrade but I think it will be a better solution...

I don't think Cornedrue's solution works. The system.ver is more of a diagnostic and is generated every time the P2 starts. To prove that it doesn't do anything, I changed mine to the first page from Crime and Punishment and unplugged/restarted/plugged back in. It reverted to what it was when I started.

I don't understand why this "trick" doesn't work on your p2s guys, because as strange as it may seem, it worked on mine ...
I will try to do it again in the next few days ...

Quick Instructions for changing from MTP to KR UMS firmware for the YP-P2

There is always some risk in changing from an MTP-based firmware (US, EU, CA, BB etc.) to the KR UMS-based firmware.
*Bricking* or rendering your P2 un-usable is a possible outcome when performing the proceedure. Though it is a very limited possibility,
you assume full responsibility if this happens, so read the following Instructions carefully and understand them before proceeding.

You have been warned.

For those of you still wanting to change your P2 to the KR UMS firmware.. then do the following...

First.. back-up all of your music, movies, photos, text files etc.. to your PC's hard drive.. as a precaution..

Second...Download the 1.11 FR firmware+config.dat from here

Third..unzip the files to a folder.. and open the config.dat with Notepad..

Change this:

YP-P2
FR FR MTP


To this:

YP-P2
KR KR UMS


Close and save the modified config.dat file.

Fourth... Connect your P2 by it's USB cable to your PC. Then Copy and Paste the modified config.dat and the two other firmware files (YPP2.rom and YPP2.RSC) to your P2's *root* not into a folder, using Windows Explorer. Unplug your P2.. it will update.. and have to be restarted three times.

Fifth... Download the 3.15 KR firmware from here
Unzip the firmware files.. and copy and paste them AND your modified config.dat file to your P2's *root*, once again.. Unplug your P2 and go through the same update process.. three restarts... If you have done this right.. your Settings > System > About area on your P2 should read KR 3.15.... Congratulations!



If you now want the Korean/English Dictionary, you can download the Dictionary links are here.. unzip it and copy and paste the files to the Dictionary folder that should now be showing on your P2... in Windows Explorer....

On your P2 go to: Settings-> System-> About and it sould say the irmware you are on and region

It is not in the new firmwares anymore but in the older like the 1.11 FR (I'm french sorry lol) it is

4) The test has been realized with the 1.11 firmware but I think you can use any firmware: you just have to add this config file when you copy your YPP2.rom and YPP2.RSC files into the P2
