I loaded the Korean firmware and gave the config KR KR UMS.
Now I have the opportunity of a lyrics display. It worked with a file I made a bit ago for my old YP-T8. It's strange but these lyrics weren't displayed by SMS. Does anybody have informations about the way the lyrics are stored? Thanks and Shine On, Frank |

You can't use the lyric station anymore, the software only eligible for the latest model in 'U' series. By the way, I heard if you can read Korean you can go on to the SMS and right click(mouse) on the song that you want and it will show 'add lyric' in the option menu...
I am not sure but I believe the fact that you can't use lyric station anymore. |

Just to add a couple points to the "Why would you want UMS list" here are a couple of things I did last night within minutes of the mod.
- right after I did the update I plugged the player back into my computer and Vista now gave me the option to use it for Ready Boost. - I used the P2 as an Ubuntu live CD. Any computer that can boot off USB can now run the Ubuntu Live CD directly off the P2 (much faster than an actual live cd). - And most importantly (for me) I transfered music to the device using RythmBox under Ubuntu |

about the lyrics thing... i got it to work. there's two ways of doing it
1) use the Lyrics Station (yes it works even if it says only for the specific device) 2) the easier and faster way... using SMS highlight the songs that you want to add music to... then right click it should have an add lyrics section. (actually i'm not sure if this will work if you have your settings to english. i use korean so... works for me) enjoy... |

I think you don't need confirmation lol
It's UMS so it works with Mac and Linux |

IIRC playlists can only be added to a player im MTP mode, or use the on the go playlists. Unless soemthing like mediamonkey can put playlists on a UMS mode player, then you'll need to change it to MTP

Cautionary update:
http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=23134 Can't say for sure if it was due to the firmware change or a hardware issue...but thought I'd note it here as an FYI. |

powz,
The "no space for DB (database)" error.. indicates a format needs to be performed. This errata message occurred on both a T9 and a K5 that I converted to UMS/MSC from MTP firmwares. Formatiing and re-installing the firmware files fixed the issue. I don't believe it is an indication of OS compatibility/lack thereof or of MSC function. Will try it out later today on a P2.. and add my experience. Update: OK, after updating my P2 to the 1.20 KR firmware (from 1.15 US ver.) from MTP to UMS.. it is now being seen by my XP machine and my nephew's OSX box as a lettered drive with full drag and drop functionality as every mp3 player should .. no DB error message. ![]() Many Thanks to all those at Generationmp3 and lebellium for originally posting the UMS config.dat information.

FYI, I said Ubuntu but it's technically Mint. I just say Ubuntu because mint is basically a themed Ubuntu with some extras and codecs installed by default. |
