Confused about Rockbox versions...

I'm intending to put Rockbox on my F40, but I'm a little confused as to which version to install. There's the official latest build from www.rockbox.org, but there are also 2 versions available from the sticky threads at the top of this forum.

Can anyone tell me what the differences are? What is the purpose of the 2 versions available here? (I'm sure there are good reasons for them!)

These two unofficial Rockbox builds in the sticky threads incorporate patches that aren't (yet) in the official Rockbox version. You can read up on these patches on the Rockbox site, and evaluate if you want/need to use them.
