That would be the Rockbox website. Refer to the manual for instructions and use Rockbox Utility if you want to make it easiest on yourself.

I've been running rockbox on my v1 for over a year now, I'd say that it's stable enough and works great ...

That depends on if you want to also use Rockbox or not. If you are not interested in Rockbox, then the latest Sansa firmware, http://anythingbutipod.com/images/fo...p02.01.35a.zip, is the best. If you do plan to use Rockbox, I think any of the earlier Sansa firmwares would work just fine.

For version 2 that would be the latest: 2.01.35a

You don't just use the stock firmware, you would need to run mkamsboot.exe to patch the OF and bootloader. Unless you use one of the one's already patched and posted in the Clip Rockbox thread.

I honestly have not been following the v2 closely since 3 of my clips are all v1’s and running rockbox for well over a year. I recently patched the latest firmware myself for mine and all is well. That said, I honestly do not see any reason why you can not use version .35 unless funman or saratoga state some logical reason as to why not. Keep in mind that rockbox updates builds daily and if there were issues, they would have been stated. I personally do the manual method and have been patching my own bootloader, you may want to read through the installation steps here and decided for yourself how you want to proceed.

Thanks very much, have been going nuts trying to get volume back to normal after updating to latest version of firmware for my clip v1 and, following your directions I downgraded to previous version (.32). Have yet to test whether it has worked on the volume, but thanks already

Volume is an issue of the region chosen when the firmware is installed. I believe that if you choose Rest of World or Americas, that your volume will be good. There are several posts in the forum about this already.

please help me! i need firmware version 02.01.29 or 02.01.30 for the sansa clip. does anyone have the .bin file so i can do the update manually. i believe the sound quality is worse on version 02.01.32 and 02.01.35a, thanks

I can't remember how many fw releases there were for the V2 Clip before .16 but I believe there was at least one or two that we don't have here and I doubt they sound any better than one of the more current releases.

.16 was the first upgrade after the initial firmware the v2 Clips shipped with (which nobody has as an installer, since it was the first one). I'm pretty sure those are all available firmwares in this thread, none's missing.

After that .16 firmware Sandisk decided to use the same numbering scheme as for the v1 Clips.

I believe that all firmwares are posted here (apart from the initial one, which never was separately released), based on my own collection of them upon their issuance.

i have the current fw installed on my clip v2 ... but this is not the best ... the volume is lesser than in 2.01.32a
can i just downpatch that?
