Talking Text Reader

I just got my white P2 yesterday, kind of disappointed with the grayish white instead of the white white like the IPOD.

Anyway, just transferred all my text files (fanfics) from my T9 over. The text reader is gorgeous, 3 inch full screen of my favorite fics, read to my heart's content!!!

Here comes the killer, half my fics are chinese, and when I try to open those, "Not Supported Format". What ??? They work fine on the T9. I did try setting the content language to chinese and re-transfer the files, still the same error with the chinese fics and mess up text in my english fics. Anybody know what could be the problem? Any hope of future firmware update would fix this?

The only reason I got the P2 was because I want to read my fics in a 3in screen!!! Now, I can't read half of them...sad..

Other than this, P2 is lovely, especially the videos.

I think the problem could be that the P2 only reads ANSI-encoded TXT files, which can only display standard characters. A text file with certain characters and symbols needs to be encoded as a Unicode file. I can't be sure this is the reason, but it would account for the problem you are having.

Default YES!!!! It works now.

I had all the chinese files in UTF-8 code. After re-saving all to unicode, it reads now. Oh, what a happy day. I'm loving my P2 even more now.

Zeddicus Zu'l - thanks for the tip!

Strange though, why does T9 support UTF-8 while P2 doesn't.
Anyway, now I can read my chinese fics.

Your what is in Korean? Your text files?
The solution is the same - re-save them all in Unicode, it should work. It did the job for my books in Bulgarian.

If your P2 doesn't work like everyone else's does, it may be defective. Other than to bring it in from the cold (you said freezing!) the only thing left to suggest is to take it back to the store and trade for a new one.

OR try reformatting (through Windows) and reinstalling 3.15 FW to see if it will work afterwards.

If not...can that lemon! lol
