Default New zunes might have video sharing

From engadget
Quote:
Microsoft just sent out the November Zune News email blast, and it's got a rather intriguing line in there: "... Zune Social where you can share music, videos and pictures that define you." We know Stevie B has spoken about the idea of Zunes sharing video, but we're suddenly concerned with the world of pain about to befall either us -- in DRM form -- or Microsoft -- in lawsuit form...
that would be pretty awesome, even if it was DRM'ed so you could only watch it once or twice after receiving it via sharing, but chances are it will be some kind of screwy system where you cannot really share videos.

Sounds cool, but I think they might restrict it to either videos of a certain length (up to 5 min) or only videos bought from the Zune marketplace.

i think engadget misunderstood the social line. MS is releasing a beta website dedicated to the "social". it sounds rather similar to last.fm - sort of like a music based myspace.. you have a profile, have a chart of your most listened to tracks/top artists, you can have friends, comments, etc.

so i'm guessing MS just means on the website you'll be able to share music & video. which i don't understand how they'll implement it since copyright infringement will certainly be an issue. i'm curious to see what they're going to launch.

This is hard to tell since no one has the Zune2 to test it out. Plus no one knows till they come to test it out.

Quote from that gizmodo link: "Also, in case people forgot, Zune Social is the name of their cool new social networking site where you can see what your friends have been listening, to as well as check out stats under each band to see who's listened to them the most. Prepare to see our names under Pat Benatar."

So it looks like I might've been right.. the email probably was referring to the MS Social site. Still curious what they meant with file sharing though.
