Lightbulb New Games

I was just wondering if any of you guys that know how to make programs on RockBox could make some new games, I have played all of the games a few times now and i am a little board with them.

I would really like to get checkers (the chess bot is too tough!), or some type of racing game for my sansa.

Anyone with other suggestions should post them

If you live in countries where such is legal, you can dump your legally bought GB and GBC games to ROM files to play on the sansa

and your legally owned DOOM wads. If you know how to program in C, you can always make your own game or port one with an Open Source licence.

About the avatar: it looks like the dog from "Wallace and Gromit" (Gromit is the dog), a piece of art.

It's Bitzer from Shaun The Sheep... by Aardman Animations, same guys that made Wallace & Gromit. Highly recommended watching.

One: Is it legal in the US?
Two: I have (or rather my daughter has) a Game Boy Advance (I'm hoping that's what the initials GB stand for in the above quote!), how would I go about getting anything off them? It's a rather bulky cube to try to force into my PCs slots ;-) (j/k! sort of)
Three: just an fyi here, but I haven't rockboxed my Sandisk yet. I WOOTed a bunch a while back, and xmas gifted most of them. DD has 1, and I have 2 (ok, i have one and there's one as a backup for when DD who is 7 breaks hers). Anywhichahoo, when I bought them I had visions of getting a microSD library of movies. Then I find it can't DO movies off the microSD. YUCK! So, I'm reading rockbox info and I think that with rockbox's mpeg player, I can put the mpeg on the microSD and play it from there. I hope :-) I'm willing to try anyway.

So like I said, 'Three' was an fyi, but feel free to send me hints and tips :-) I'd really like two and one answers though!

Gracias,
Sherry

1. No clue, if you own them yourself it should be, I guess.
2. Download them from the 'net!
3. Not sure, I use the thing as a music player!

It's not a patent issue. It's a copyright issue, and terms on copyrights won't be up for a long, long time yet.

You cannot legally download gameboy games in any country that respects the copyrights of the countries the games were published in.

to add to Llorean's post:
Nintendo no longer cares if you download gb and gbc games because they are no longer being sold for their profit in retail. It is the same with (S)NES, Genesis, and probably soon to be N64 and Dreamcast. It is technically illegal though.

Nintendo still cares. They still sell many games by way of the Wii virtual console and are expected to do something similar with old Gameboy games and the DS. Unless you are a legal representative of the company, or can point to an official statement made by Nintendo, please don't tell people things like this.

It's foolish to say that "we don't mind". Keep in mind that the Sansa isn't a Gameboy Color but a DAP so the focus is on Music and Video playback. If you want portable games, buy a Gameboy Color/DS/PSP.
