This is what I think of the Trekstor Vibez after one day of fiddling around with it - feel free to correct me, or add to the list (positive or negative).

The Vibez looks like a suitable player but for some reason the looks of it scares me away. I can't explain why but the futuristic look of it turns me off. As for playback is there gapless support?

Yeah, looks like a popsicle... as for gapless, did you read the 3rd point in the "pros"-section of the list above?

It's a really good player, no-nonsense, strictly music. The advantages outweigh the annoyances, IMO.

As for the low output volume, I wonder if MP3 gain can be given a go. It can raise the audio significiently but might increase distortion at the same time.

It's only a problem with my huge 80 Ohm Beyerdynamic DT770 or similar cans. The Trekstor is loud enough for any of my IEMs. On full volume, I'll go deaf instantly with the V-Moda Vibes or the Futuresonic Atrios.

I thought the "save session" was the same thing as bookmarks?

Indeed you're right. Seems like "sessions" save bookmarks and playlists.

I'm very curious about this player; any updates to you list dfkt? Has a week (or so) of use made you like it more or less?

Important distinction. Sessions saves the current running playlist and where you left off at the time you created or updated the Session. The Sessions function does not actually manage independent saved playlists. For those, you need to use the "Now Playing" menu and choose to "Make Playlist". Then give the playlist a name.
