Default My P2 won't charge when plugged into computer with USB cable

I have a problem here. My p2 will not charge when plugged into either my desktop or laptop. Is this a simple mistake on my part or something serious to inquire Samsung about?

Do the PCs otherwise see the P2? Can you copy files to it? When the P2 is plugged in to either can you see it's menu or do you see the "USB connected" screen? What color does the LED on the P2 glow when connected?

Entirely possible olley, don't have a P2 so can only venture general guesses. Rechargable batteries don't last forever, how old is your P2?

when I plug it in the "USB connected" sign pops up. The battery icon in the top right corner of the screen also comes up,appearing to charge, however the battery does not charge. It stays at the same power level. I am pretty frustrated by this.

the LED indicator also glows red when I connect it, the light turning to blue every 3-4 second intervals. And I just received my p2 this Christmas

There are three possibilities.
1. Your cable has a short.
2. Your USB port isn't providing power.
3. Your P2 is defective.

Are your plugging it into your PC directly or into a USB hub? Some hubs don't have enough power for charging devices. I suggest getting an AC>USB wall charger to see if the P2 will charge with a better power supply. You can find inexpensive USB chargers that will work with your OEM cable. Handy to have even if they don't fix your P2 for you.
