Do spare filters come with them?
Are they easy to change etc or are they non-replaceable like the Er6i's? Also i know this question is hard to answer but what do you really prefer. The Atrios or Q JAYS. Are they worht the extra $40-50? |

They come with those spare protective metal meshes, as said in the review - I assume those prevent the filter from getting dirty, and the filter doesn't need to be changed. Changing the filter itself isn't mentioned anywhere on Jays' website or in the user manual.
It's too early to tell which one I really prefer. I had the Atrio for several months and the q-Jays for less than a week. Only time will tell... they're both totally different, but excellent, that's for sure.

I just whipped up this cable to get rid of two annoyances with the q-JAYS at once: 1.) it's a lot shorter than the stock cable (40cm instead of 90cm, total length is now 100cm instead of 150cm) - 2.) reversed the left and right channels, because for me it's more comfortable to have the left and right earbuds in the opposite ear when using the cable up-and-around the ears.
The only downside to this cable is its weight, but I find it less of a hassle than the length of the stock cable. (Didn't find any thinner cable, maybe some other time...)

Thanks Varkie.
Material costs were EUR 4,20... so fifty pounds sound about right for reselling.

All in they are a night and day upgrade over the standard supplied cables and can be had for only Eur 75. My cut is a mere 20%.... ![]() Oh and to stay on topic, when can we expect a long term perspective on your experiences. Are they still as good as the Atrios, only different?

Enormous bump... sorry for that.
![]() Just wanted to share that I managed to force some Comply foamies made for the SE530 onto the q-Jays. Nice isolation, and the soundstage improved a bit - probably because the drivers are farther away from my ear drums. I like them quite a bit more now (more than I already did).

Nice foamies, dfkt.
Ahh, I wish I could buy those q-JAYS... And I wish it was because of the money, but it's not.

You're kidding, you can't buy the Q-Jays over there? Would customs confiscate them?
Worst case, I would buy them from someone on Head-Fi, and ask them to put foamies on and remove the cables, then mark the box as "Earplugs" or some such and tax the import accordingly. When they arrive, just put on new cables. I haven't seen a pair of Q-Jays up close, but it should be possible...

I had just settled on the q-Jays for purchase, and last week I wrote headphone.com for a quote with shipping and all that. Not having heard back, which could be an email issue, I was surfing their site. Last week they were 1-2 weeks out with a price of $180, and today they're In Stock with a price of $240.
I'm now rethinking the q-Jays for purchase because now they're not sub-$200 their almost mid and with extra filters and shipping they're pushing $300. Does that change anyone's opinion of purchasing these, or should I just go for a little higher audiophile product? Perhaps these are high enough, but headphone.com recommends dropping a big chunk on quality phones. Although, I'm a newbie to all of this, and dropping the dough is important so I don't regret my choice. Thanks! Doug |

I paid 165 USD for them, and I would have paid 200, they're really truly amazing even for the price. You should call headphone.com (they have an 800 number) and ask about B-stock, and why they bumped their price. Their first batch from Jay's sold in a hurry (I helped that) and apparently they had a hard time getting them in. Maybe Jay's redesigned them. Best to talk to a live person and report back.

Certainly does for me. That's a significant price increase. I wasn't about to order anytime soon though. I'm still looking at various IEMs atm.

LOL I thought for sure I posted a response.
I called HeadRoom. They said that Jays raised HeadRoom's purchase price for all Jays products by $50. Doug |

Yea, q-JAYS at headphone.com for $240 represents a one-time 33% price hike which is absurd in the world of retail electronics. I'm trying to remember anything comparable.
I don't know anything about this enterprise, but check out dxc.com - an eBay storefront. That's not an http address - it's a link. The address is a mile long. As the link shows, they have yet to be hit by the price increase, but shipping will cost you $8 in the US. They also have the foam sleeves in stock, which are presently hard to find. Does anyone have experience, good or bad, with dxc.com? dfkt, at $219 (Amazon.com, shipping included) would q-JAYS continue to qualify as one of your "editor's choice" products?
