Help Need help with making playlists!

I have the Sansa m230 MP3player. I have songs I've sync from my computer onto my device. I can put them into my favorites but don't know how to create a playlist of certain songs like for Country, Rock or Sensual songs. I have playlists created in Windows Media but how do I get a playlist onto my device. Everytime I look in Playlist it says No Files!! It has to be something real simple I'm missing.

WMP is a fine piece of software for what it does...rip and play music. But here's what you really need, a utility specifically created for modifying tags and creating playlists. Meet mp3tag. It's a little jewel and no serious mp3 afficianado should be without it. Best of all, it's dead simple to use...and it's free.

Now, I can make playlist in both WMP and Rhapsody. But when I sync them to my MP3 player it just puts them on there. It doesn't put them into a playlist such as Country or the Rock playlists I have. Would the mp3tag one do that? Or is it maybe just my MP3 player that won't do it?

Thanks for your help!

IMO mp3tag is much better for making playlists than WMP. You just select the files you want on the list by control-clicking them, then go to File--Playlist (selected files). You'll get a dialog prompting you to name the playlist; by default it shows up as:

E:\mp3tag.m3u

with E being whatever drive letter your PC assigns to your Sansa. Now, just chance the "mp3tag" part of the name to whatever you want the list named, say:

E:\Techno Megablast.m3u

and click Okay. The playlist should show up as "Techno Megablast" under the Play Music--Playlist menu on your Sansa the next time you start it up.

Of course, this also comes in handy with the "unknown artist" glitch...I regularly store 200+ songs on my m240, and as a result I will get a couple of "unknowns". All I do is create playlists for the albums the "unknowns" belong to, and play those instead of selecting the album as you normally would. Works like the proverbial charm.

I sent you a pm but another question. When I pick the songs I want for my playlist and then go to File---playlist(selected files) it show up as C:/Documents and settings etc..... it's not showing E: which is for the drive for Sansa! What am I doing wrong?

Okay, I figured out a few things I think! I hooked my Mp3 player and then saw all the songs I have. I selected the ones I wanted and named it and hit okay. But then checked my Mp3player and went to Play music then Playlist and it stills says No Files. What else do I need to do?

I got it to work!!!! I didn't know you needed to put .m3u behind the name I made for the playlist. Now I have my playlists!!!
